"I have some back at the apartment," Avery volunteered. "It wouldn't be hard for me to get." She did, however, glance at Bruce briefly before looking back at Kerry. They would all have to find out about her magic sooner or later, and it really was best that it was Bruce who would be the first to see. He was the least likely to get upset over it, ironically.

Kerry came to the same conclusion and nodded. "Might as well," she agreed, motioning for Avery to go ahead.

Avery nodded and raised one of her hands for a moment. She concentrated, thinking back to where she left the tea in her apartment. With a quick twist of magic, the tea was suddenly sitting on the table in front of her.

Bruce blinked at that. "Well, I guess we know what you mean by more than meets the eye," he said. "Magic?"

Avery hesitated slightly, but nodded.

"That's part of it, yeah," she said. Hey, if she was going to admit to magic, she was going to admit to her heritage, too.

Bruce nodded. "Be careful with that around Tony," he said. "Tony hates magic."

Kerry coughed suspiciously.

"Yeah, that was mentioned in his file," Avery said, nodding. "But thanks for the tip."

Bruce nodded and let his own tea steep for a few minutes.

Kerry steeped her own tea, grinning.

After a few minutes, Avery sighed and stood up, stretching.

"I'm going to walk around a bit," she said. "I'll be back." With that, she made her way out of the kitchen, leaving the two to chat and drink tea.

Kerry nodded, going back to her paperwork. She figured if Bruce wanted to talk, he'd talk, otherwise they were both comfortable with silence.

Avery wandered a bit until she came upon the main common room. She could see Clint, Tony, and Steve all playing video games, and even though the game never paused, she could practically feel their attention shifting from the game to her.

But none of them said anything yet, just focusing on their game until they had finished a level. Then Tony looked at her.

"No magic in the Tower."

Avery nodded.

"As much as I can," she said. "Emergency situations only." Hey, she wasn't trying to directly disobey. She could agree, within reason.

Tony nodded shortly. He figured that was as good as he was going to get this time.

"Mind if I watch for a bit?" Avery asked, gesturing to the game. "I stare at any more paperwork and my eyes might fall out."

Tony shrugged. "If you want," he said, turning his attention back to the game so they could move on to the next episode.

"Cool," Avery said, sitting down. She didn't ask what game it was or what level they were on; she just settled back and watched. The mindless game was kind of relaxing.

The guys continued playing for a little while, pretty much just ignoring her for the moment.

After a few minutes of silence, Avery ended up taking out her phone and sifting through her emails. She had played with her phone a bit to keep it from being damaged by magic, which made it a little slow but otherwise fine. Absently, she tucked her hair behind her ears, exposing the pointed tips.

Clint and Tony both glanced at her once but after that they figured they'd hear if she did anything else. And then they went back to playing.

Avery watched them all for another moment or two, silently debating the wisdom of what she was about to ask.

"If I asked a slightly personal question," she ventured finally, "how honest of an answer am I likely to get out of you three?"

"Depends on the question," Clint immediately shot back, grinning when he shot Tony's characters just to hear the genius swear at him.

"Nothing invasive, I promise," Avery said. She paused for a moment to let Tony stop swearing. "I just wanted to know what your opinions all are on non-human interactions."

"We have Thor," Tony pointed out. "We're not against non-humans."

"Can you imagine the looks from Thor if we said we were?" Clint asked.

"Thor is a special case," Avery pointed out. "I mean less on a godlike level and more on a... mixed-blood level."
