OH MY GOD THIS IS SO ANNOYING!
For the next class we have to take, which is once again not at all in my area, we have to download the "supplemental preparation guide" from the ETS website.

There are 5 different Supplemental guides and 4 preparation guides. And of course, the teacher doesn't indicate which one of them we are supposed to download in any way. BECAUSE SHE'S A TERRIBLE TEACHER WHO GIVES THE WORST INSTRUCTIONS EVER!!!!

Seriously. This is not in any way preparing me for teaching legitimately in a classroom. I could teach myself more via internet research.

She's given us so many assignments with incomplete instructions, bad instructions, or, my favorite, unsavable forms! And she teaches everything like we're going to be 3rd grade bilingual English teachers.
I'm going to teach high school science. I won't even be certified to teach anything but science 7th-12th grades. And, most importantly, you couldn't pay me enough money to teach elementary school.
And her tests...ugh, don't get me started. I really hate her as a teacher. I think she's probably a really nice person, but she is an AWFUL teacher for adults. She's probably a fantastic third grade teacher, I wouldn't know.

I hate her so very much right now. And I still have two more classes with her. And it's not like I hate her because I'm not doing well. I have a running A in all three classes so far. In two I have a 100. But I'm also pretty damn smart and I can basically teach myself most things. Our ESL teachers are DYING under her lack of good instructions and the teachers that are less intelligent are doing horribly from her lack of proper instruction. It makes me mad. People shouldn't fail because you're a shitty teacher.

Steel - are you guys able to evaluate her performance at the end of semesters? I know sometimes it doesn't matter, but if the teacher is unpopular with faculty, it does hurt them. Two of my professors in my last program received abysmal reviews by students and one was pretty much pushed out. The other is barely hanging onto his job, likely because it's difficult to find people with a PhD in library and information science willing to teach.

Had to stay until ten yesterday, because one person called out, and one person was a no call no show.
Somebody else who came in later than I did turned down staying because of the rain.
It wasn't raining.
It rained for like ten minutes, and then it was over.
But it's cool. I got extra hours.

Yeah, we had one person at my job who called out on Saturday, and then she no called, no showed yesterday. I have the distinct feeling she's not gonna be there for much longer.

I was talking so somebody, and the person who had called out has another job.
I asked why that person doesn't just quit, and they told me that she said that she'd been there too long.
Please, if you care about your other job more, then just quit this one.
She only works one day a week.

The one who just didn't show up, the manager called them back, and they said they tried to call, but since she was at lunch, he just figured it was okay.
No, it was not okay. The store manager was there, so he should've talked to him.
Yet he didn't. So it's a no call.

@Citrus: Oh many that sucks so hard!

@Elmira: Unfortunately I don't think there is a formal evaluation system. It's not really like college. It's a five month certification thing with one class a month. But I will be letting the region know at the end of it how much I was NOT impressed with her teaching. Supposedly the region is really behind this class so they welcome feedback.

@Pistachio: I just love people who don't care how their actions affect others. But hey...extra monies!

I'm going to be off and on a bit this week while I dig up dirt on the crooks we bought the land from. Mostly by phone and internet searches. Good ol' Google is turning up some amazing dirt!

I'm so glad I'm not working retail anymore. Sure, it sucks to be unemployed, but at least I'm not dealing with massive amounts of bullhonkey everyday.

Good luck with digging up the dirt, Elmira!

And Citrus, that's how I feel about elementary school jobs. I may not be making money, but I'm also not crazy miserable.

It's been fun and I was able to obtain a referral to an attorney from a friend. More calls tomorrow though, which is annoying when I really want to just start sorting through things to figure out what we could take and what we can donate IF we have to move.

Reading through some earlier posts: Have you been able to sort things out with your instructor or at the grin and bear it stage?

Citrus and Mark: I would absolutely go nuts if I had to work with people like that - basing this on my long history of being way too blunt for my own good at work.

I really hope things work out in your favor. I'm amazed at how brilliantly you're handling it all. I would probably be freaking out all over the place right now.

I got my teacher to change a grade on one of my tests, but it's kind of grin and bear it. If I make too much of a fuss, it will start coming out in my grade, I just know it. I only have two month long classes left with her, and this month's is going to suck no matter what...ESL class. I'm not going to be an ESL teacher, and I get the benefit of learning how to work WITH ESL students, but this isn't quite the same thing.

I just won Admin's Pick! I am SO HAPPY!
And now it's time to dance, so I can't talk much. I'm happy to see you up, though. How is Sophia? How are you?

Congrats! That's awesome!
Hope that dance goes well! I've been doing pretty good, kinda sleep deprived - trying to get into a routine, she's asleep now, I should be asleep. Becca is zoning out next to me, but I can't sleep. Ugh! As soon as Al gets home from work, I'm taking a nap, if I can! Sophia is doing good! We've got an appointment tomorrow with her doctor.
Becca seems kinda put off, but we're doing our best to try to incorporate her into things so we can do them all together so she's not feeling left out. I've just not had much energy to do much of anything special lately.

I had a great time.
I can imagine that you're very sleep deprived. But I'm glad to hear that everyone is doing well.
Becca will get settled and she'll feel a lot better. It's always hard getting a new sibling.

How's school going, Steel? I have a friend with an undergrad in anthropology currently in a master's in ed program and she is really freaking out about how different the theories and programs are from what she's used to. I'm not sure why she's surprised, but it constantly cracks me up when she loses her mind a bit over it. Pedagogical theories are not always the same or taught the same way we learned them in anthropology...

Haha. School is...irritating. I hate the way the teacher teaches (incompetently), but only two months left! But my certification exam is in the morning. At 8:30. Ugh. SO I'm going to be heading to bed now. Goodnight!
