Thanks hummy and Elmira. I am very pleased. I was worried that I might not pass it because of the astronomy and geology. I basically had to teach myself both of those in about a week.

I think there are only 4-5 of us still living here and consistently paying for our lots, so the banker is at least trying. Also seeing some movement happening with the abandoned houses in the form of work crews at some of them. Not sure if it's the banker for the land or the lenders for the houses, but the houses are being fixed, yards cleaned up and houses staying put instead of being removed or demolished.

Thank you all for your patience with me concerning this. When my first husband died in 2005, I found myself having to fight to keep us in this house. When this new situation came up, I kept my wits about me for a few days until things were looking bleak. So, my apologies for being a bit more tense than usual. I really thought (and still am not 100% sure this won't happen) we would be told to leave. Thank you all as well for prayers, good vibes, etc.
I completely understand being on edge about it, hon. Your home is much more than just a house to you, and having it threatened like that, having to possibly change everything, that is a HUGE stress. I am glad that the banker is at least really trying to make it okay. I really, really am hoping it all works out great for you. *hugs*

I am incredibly impressed that you were able to read and absorb that much information so quickly!

And, thank you. This is an evolving situation, but today is a good day so I am celebrating a mini miracle/triumph. Times like this I wish my stomach could handle major amounts of ice cream because I would be hitting Ben and Jerry's right about now! Speaking of ice cream :) I think I saw an ad for some sort of foo foo organic stuff.

I'm so thankful to my mum today - she took Becca for most of the day. Sophia and I took quite a few naps together today. It was wonderful!

Thank god I'm a wicked fast reader.
Oh man, ice cream sounds amazing. I have really mild lactose intolerance. Luckily ice cream and yogurt don't mess with me. Only large amounts of cheese. And cream sauces.
I'm glad for your good day, though.

Yeah, it was an amazing day. I did have a few things that I should have done, like laundry, but that can wait. Or I can get the hubs to do it.

Sleep well! :] I'm probably off to bed as soon as Sophia wakes up in about a half hour or so to feed before falling back to sleep again. :P

Sleep was slow in coming last night due to reading a book. I am paying for it today! Squished too many errands into the day and my brain is mush.

Hope y'all are well

I've been book bound as well lately. It's hard to go to sleep when a book is so interesting!
Man, I am hurting all over now. I had to break up a fantastic fist fight between teenage girls today and now my back and shoulders are killing me. Thank god I was bigger than both girls.

Yep. And they weren't even my kids. Though two of my kids tried to get into in first period, but I shut it down pronto. I told them they could work out their personal issues outside of class and I didn't want to hear them screaming at each other.

But the teacher across the hall....she had three girls get into it. And she was afraid to break it up because she didn't want to get hurt. So another teacher and I separated the two that were punching the crap out of each other. It was crazy.

End of school year drama. Are you bruised or sore muscles? I know you know what works for your body better than anyone else, so I hope you are able to take it easy.

What are you reading for fun? When I was in grad school this last time, we had a crapton of reading. Let me just say: Library and information science is dry and not even crunchy. I won't even go into the stuff we read about cataloging or building book indexes. When I was finished, I begged recommendations for fiction. I think I have blown up my amazon account downloading books. What's cool is, I've also been able to provide the (ahem) excuse that some of this is for Soki's benefit since I'm previewing some young adult fiction

I know right? It's like they have to make sure they get their quota for drama in before school ended. I made it without any bruises, but I strained my back and shoulders pulling them apart and restraining one of the girls.

Right now I'm reading the Divergent Trilogy. I just finished Hunger Games. I'm enjoying them. I finished rereading all of the Hitchhiker's Guide books and my Zelazny books (except for the Amber series, because the ex has that book ) Oh, and Nine Goblins from T Kingfisher (a pseudonym for Ursula Vernon, who is an artist and author I not only love, but desperately want to be friends with). Which is amazing and funny and perfect.

I've been reading the Iron Druid series, which I find rather clever. The main character is a 2k yo druid and he has conversations at times with his Irish Wolfhound. I've heard fantastic things about the Divergent series and keep meaning to start reading it.

My nephew just turned 18yo and it's been a bit of a trip for me since I vividly remember my sister being pregnant and then... shazam! cute little curly-haired kid. He is now over 6' tall and graduating high school. They live in San Diego so I have to participate vicariously through the miracles of digital photos and facebook.

The drama issue at school never made sense to me. I'd witness in it, but I just wanted to get out of school and on with my life. Drama was just too distracting. Along with the probability of suspension, not graduating/escaping on time, etc.

I honestly never witnessed a fight in high school. I was in all AP classes and you just didn't do that in AP. We never socialized with the on level kids (admittedly, I'm still a bit of an academic snob...it's in my nature). The entire idea of solving anything with a fight is baffling to me.

And I feel that way about my cousins.

Divergent is good, but it frustrates me. Of course I'm only halfway through the second book, so it may get less frustrating.

I hope the storyline improves for you!

Things really changed since I was in school during the Dark Ages. I don't believe I ever witnessed fighting. Bullying, yes, but not like what I hear, read, or see on the news. The year after I pulled Soki from public school due to her anxiety disorder, I learned more about the high school she would have attended. The school had tremendous disciplinary issues not being addressed by the principal until he was replaced. It's safer now, but they are currently removing kids with disciplinary problems related to neurological and psychological disorders and place them into an alternative school with more violent kids. I'm glad you were there to help the other teacher, but am sorry it escalated to that level.

Oh the storyline isn't bad. There is just a romance aspect to it that they play up a little more than I prefer and we're at the "dramatic fighting" part of the romance. I'm not a big romance person.
See, I wasn't bullied in high school at all. The worst bullying I ever received was in elementary school, and it was more...abusive friendship. The upper level classes are SO much better than the lower level. Partially because the biggest difference between an advanced student and an on level one is maturity. Unfortunately, with learning disabilities, it's a LOT harder to keep up with advanced work.

Soki was intelligent enough for AP classes and was in some sort of hybrid inclusion classes for kids who were borderline gifted. However, her grades were not consistently high A's, so she stayed put with the hybrid classes. Plus, I think her maturity (Asperger's and the anxiety disorder) made it difficult for the teacher in charge of the program to move Soki to the gifted program completely. She was on track for AP high school regardless. Right now, I'd like to put her back into a college prep program, but we are focusing on life skills since that is what her therapist asked me to do. She's in school year-round and we alternate between college prep and social activity, learning how to create and live with a budget, taking care of things around the house, etc. That being said, some of the kids in the gifted program were pretty obnoxious to her and other kids. It wasn't even an issue about intelligence because she tended to receive awards and better scores/grades than many of them, some were just snots.

I was one of those kids who really did not care if I had a ton of friends. I either got along with people or ignored them. I didn't encounter bullying until I was in a small private school of the magnitude of needing therapy for years afterward for PTSD (not even exaggerating a little). However, after I attended a different school (the private school was only through grade 9), I reignited my "I don't care what you think" attitude. It has served me well, lo these many years. Oddly enough, I am still friends with some of the people I went to school with and I graduated high school in 1983.

My tourette's student is in preAP classes, but it is more difficult because of his concurrent syndromes. They just make it hard to organize and make sure he turns everything in on time. Soki seems like a really smart kid. But life skills will probably help with the anxiety. I always feel less anxious when I'm prepared for a situation.

It's a shame that the gifted kids were snots. I think for me it helped that I'm just generally a people pleaser, but I'm also pretty okay with being thought poorly of. With the exception of my intelligence. I never could handle being thought of as stupid.

Not so much -- but I've pretty much been wearing these boots for over 8 hours today total, and they're not all that forgiving.

Ooof, that sucks. I've gotten to the point of not wearing shoes that aren't comfortable for any amount of time ever.
