Once Upon a Time...The Mana Goddess created life, and then slept in the form of a tree. That tree came to be called the Tree of Mana. Fa'Diel is the land the Mana Goddess created, and where she sleeps.
After faeries and men waged war, the Tree of Mana burned down and the world began to sleep, waiting for someone to come and awaken it's power once more. The hero/heroine of the Legend of Mana has done that, and peace has come to the land once again! Or so we thought.
The Wisdoms have all gone crazy! Though we may not notice it now, but the Wisdoms are closely connected to Mana, which could only be explained as something in the world of Fa'Diel is changing.
