Tammy snickered.

"I bet you would," she said, grinning.

"Yeah," Dean said. "Dad runs the place, Mom runs him, keeps us all in line."

Sam grinned at her and leaned over enough to give her a quick kiss on the cheek. He'd do more but they were liable to fall off their horses, which was never fun.

That startled a laugh out of Laura. "Sounds like my kind of woman."

Tammy grinned and gave him a kiss in return, making sure not to lean to far. She'd fallen off before, trying that trick, and didn't want to do it again.

Dean grinned.

"Yeah, Mom's something," he said. "You'll meet her later at dinner."

Laura blinked. "I didn't realize we'd eat with the family," she said, looking at him.

Dean shrugged a bit.

"Not like it's a big group," he said. "Mom's always glad to have Tam for dinner, anyways, so I doubt she'd leave you out on your own. And Cas eats with the family, too, he practically is family by now."

"Cas? I don't think Tam's mentioned Cas before." Laura looked over at him, clearly curious.

Dean grinned a bit.

"Cas is a regular hand around here," he said. "He's a miracle worker with the difficult horses."

"Ah, one of those." Laura grinned a bit. "Sounds interesting. Not many people volunteer to put up with those horses, usually you have to cajole and pay extra."

"Cas is amazing with them," Dean said. "They all love him, and he loves working with them."

"Lucky guy." Laura smiled. She'd have to ask about this Cas later, and not from any of the family. "Sounds like you're lucky to have him, too."

"We're real lucky to have him," Dean agreed, nodding. "We're lucky he decided to stick around."

Laura nodded. "Sounds like it's a good thing he didn't go to one of the big training stables in the area. I worked at one for a summer, couldn't stand it."

"That's how he came to us, actually," Dean said, grinning a bit. "Came with one of the horses we got from a bigger place. Took one look at things around here and quit the bigger place on the spot. Hell if I know why."

"Spoken like someone who's never worked at a big ranch before." Laura grinned. "So what do you do here? I mean besides have all the visitors."

"We look after the horses," Dean said. "Occasional breedings and boardings. Mostly just the public lessons."

"Sounds pretty relaxed, actually. I like it." Laura grinned at him.

Dean grinned back, but was stopped from saying anything else when he heard another horse behind them. Turning a bit, he grinned when he saw Cas.

"Hey, Cas, what's up?" he asked.

"Mary put out the call for supper," Cas replied. He looked at Laura and blinked. He hadn't realized Dean was with someone. "Hello."

"Hi. I'm Laura." She turned enough to offer him a hand with a smile. "Dean was actually just telling me about you."

"My name is Castiel," Cas replied, nodding to her. "It's good to meet you, Laura."

"You too." Laura smiled. "Do you prefer Cas or Castiel?"

Cas blinked. He hadn't ever been asked that before.

"I suppose either one is fine," he ventured after a moment.

Laura looked amused but nodded. "I'll keep that in mind."

Then she looked ahead at the other two. "Now, who's going to go fetch the love birds?"

Dean made a face, which triggered a soft chuckle from Cas.

"I will," Cas said, nudging his horse to catch up to Sam and Tammy.

Sam turned when he heard a horse approaching them and grinned. "Hey Cas," he greeted.

"Your mother asked me to let you know that supper is ready," Cas said, nodding to Sam and Tammy in greeting.
