Anneke nodded. "Do whatever you can to get ahead!" she called back, already encouraging Racer to try and speed up. For once she was laying flat against his neck, not even trying to stand in the winds buffeting them around.

Ginna laid as flat as she could on Dísa's back, and she nudged her dragon to speed up. They needed to go as fast as they could, and the winds were getting worse.

Racer managed to pull a little ahead of Disa, but the winds caught up with him anyway. He had a little easier time, since he was bigger, but he also had to worry about Anneke falling off, since she didn't have a riding harness to hold on to.

So when the first real gale-storm force winds hit them, he spun off course and focused more on Anneke than on getting ahead.

Ginna was glad she was harnessed in, since it meant Dísa could focus on staying aloft. The winds were blowing them both all over the place, and it didn't take long at all before they were blown horribly off-course.

Somehow, fortunately, the two didn't end up too far separated, and Racer rumbled at Disa to get her attention and direct her down to a hilly area where they could find some cover to wait out the rest of the storm.

Dísa chirped in response and followed Racer down to the hilly area. It would be good enough to ride out the rest of the storm, at least.

Racer managed to get himself into a good spot and got Anneke arranged with his wings around her to keep her in place. Anneke for her part just stayed still, shivering a bit, and waited for the storm to pass.

Dísa landed heavily a ways away and promptly curled around Ginna to keep her safe. Ginna stayed close to Dísa, huddling down.

The storm lasted a while, but it did finally blow over. Once the wind and rain had faded to manageable levels, Dísa allowed Gina to venture out of the little protective huddle.

"Where are we?" Ginna asked, looking around. The area was hilly and a bit wooded, and she didn't recognize any of it.

"I have no idea." Anneke emerged as well, looking around. "I guess let's get up to the top of this hill and take a look around." She patted Racer and started up the hill on her own.

It only took her a minute or so to reach the top, and then she paused and whistled. She could see a town down at the edge of the water, all closed up from the storm still.

"You have to come see this."

Curious, Ginna went up to join her sister. She paused when she saw the sturdy little village.

"Where in Odin's name did that storm drop us?" she asked. She didn't recognize the village at all, and she knew all the towns around their home.

"I haven't got a clue, but I'm willing to find out." Anneke paused, looking at Racer. "You should probably stay here, at least until we know what's going on."

He grumbled but sat.

"I'll go with you," Ginna said. Dísa nudged at her, but she shook her head. "No, sweetling, you stay here with Racer. We don't know if these people even like dragons, I don't want you in any sort of danger. I'll call if I need you."

Dísa grumbled as well, but went to curl up petulantly next to Racer.

Anneke patted Racer's shoulder and then headed down towards the town. People were starting to open things up again as the storm passed, and it didn't take long before someone noticed the two strange young women.

Hiccup definitely noticed them as he helped open up the dragon roost.

"Uh, who are you?" he asked, going over to them.

"We're from another town. We were sailing, and our ship was blown off course and destroyed in the storm." Anneke figured that was the safest explanation for now.

"I see," Hiccup said. "Yeah, that storm was a bad one. Although, you two don't look like you went through a wreck..." He trailed off, studying them for a moment.

"We got lucky," Anneke started to say, and then stopped when the dragons emerged from the roost. Her eyes widened a bit and she looked at Ginna.

Gonna looked back, eyes just as wide.

Hiccup saw the looks and mistook them for fear.

"No no no, it's okay," he said, raising his hands. "They're not dangerous, I promise, you're safe."

"You built a whole roost for them?" Anneke couldn't help but ask, looking at the building. "That's actually a really good idea, keeps them all centrally located, ish anyway..." She trailed off, thinking of the possibilities.

"Wha...? No, we converted a building that was already there, but..." Hiccup trailed off. "You're not afraid of them?"

"No, not at all," Ginna said. She grinned. "We thought we were the only ones."

Anneke grinned and looked back at the hills and gave a short whistle. Racer popped his head over and when she waved, he headed down to her.

Ginna gave a sharp whistle as well, and Dísa came shooting out of the trees.

Hiccup blinked when he saw the dragons, and did a double-take.

"No way," he said. "Another Night Fury? I thought they were a wiped out!"

"We've got a few back in our town," Anneke said with a grin. "I think there were eight last I checked?" She glanced at Ginna to confirm.

"Something like that," Ginna replied, nodding even as she put up with Dísa snuggling her. Hiccup just gaped a bit.

Anneke smiled and rubbed under Racer's chin. "So, I kind of lied. We weren't in a shipwreck, we were out flying with these guys and we got caught in the storm. Sorry. No offense meant, but we didn't know how you'd react to dragons."
