I was wondering about the difference between some very similar boots in the event store, and you had no idea, and then I was like, "Nevermind, I see it," and you said that in big letters and I completely lost it‼

I had a great time! My friend's relatives even fixed me up with a sari. Oh goodness, I should have even known that one! Haha. Sorry, I have no brain just yet.
This is my beautiful friend with her new husband:

This is me and my sister during the ceremony:

And this is me at the reception after my friend's aunt sari-ed me up. :D
And this is a really blurry picture of the last hour of the ceremony:

It was hard to get pictures because of the lighting and the weirdness of the ceremony (lots of people getting up and down, leaving at various times, coming back in with food). Hopefully she'll post a link to the official pictures when she's ready.

Yeah, it started at 10am and ended at around 3:30pm. At one point we were told to go to lunch and come back to the ceremony. Haha. Very different from the typical Christian ceremonies I'm used to. But it was probably one of the prettiest and most colorful weddings.

Yeah, and it's weirdly informal in the audience, but really formal in the ceremony. Like, clearly the stuff going on at the stage is very significant and solemn and important. But all the Indians in the audience would get up and get food, or start making bets about the reception or chat. And when they wanted you to pay attention to the stage, they'd turn the music up. Haha. It was very interesting.

That does sound interesting - at least they had a way of letting everyone know that they wanted your attention.

Haha, yeah. And I did do a little bit of research beforehand, so I kind of knew what the important bits were (the Muhurtam was the most important part). And they kindly gave a full program. They gave a good description of what would happen during each section and what the symbolism was. And I kind of acted as our little group's ambassador since I tend to make friends fairly easily. So I'd find a nice looking face and make friends with them and then my little group would join our conversation.
That's how I ended up with a sari.

Depends on what type of wedding they're having. What's the couple's religion and how religious are they?

Then the ceremony will likely be around an hour long, counting the entrances and extras. The reception can be a few hours long depending on how long your family wishes to stay.
Have you never been to a wedding before?

Weird. I guess it's just because I'm from a large family, but I had a lot of uncles, second cousins, and even a great uncle who happens to be younger than my parents get married. I've been going to weddings since I was a toddler.

We had a lot of funerals when I was younger instead. None for anyone I knew well. I know those things inside and out. I think going to all those funerals impacted my views on death. I dunno.

Everyone who was old enough to marry back then was already married with kids, so nobody was talking about weddings and they're totally alien to me.
