I think we are old. Technology gets outdated every six months now, unfortunately. Using that logic we've aged two techno years for every chronological years since about 2000--making me thirty-seven in August of this year and you thirty-nine. Enjoy middle age. xD

But seriously, I feel all kinds of ancient when I realize that the new generation of kids doesn't know why the save icon looks the way it does, doesn't understand what a CRT monitor is and for the love of all that's sacred:
rotary phones.

I was in middle school when Ragnarok Online came out and that was eleven years ago!

._.

I remember floppy disks! :D Don't think I've ever actually used one though, that I can recall. I wasn't big into computers when I was a kid; too busy playing Pokemanz and running through the forest like a happy little nymph child. Except King's Quest 7! That was my favourite game on the computer as a kid. That's pretty much the only thing I used a computer for. Still not sure what Ragnarok Online is, though I have heard of it.

And I dunno Mimi, maybe I have a thread before you because you were lazy and didn't make a thread?

I used to own a big box of them... it's around here somewhere...

I was born a gamer... 2 years old and I was hooked
I played pokemon too at one time. My brother has "revived" playing pokemon so he can play with his daughter

Kings Quest 7? Oh gosh... D: So many of those which was which?!

My favorite games were (are) Ultima IV, AutoDuel, and 2400AD.

Sadly none of my peers ever seemed to know what a floppy disk was... or anything I grew up on for that matter

I definitely spell theatre like theatre. I also used to put "u"s in all of my words as well - until I got to AP English my senior year of high school and then into college - my teachers/professors would dock points for it XD So I had to learn to stop! XD

I used to be a huge lurker - in the past couple years - I've become a huge poster *used to be super shy*

When I use British spelling it's either because I'm not paying full attention or I just didn't realize the spellings are different... I know I drop in an unnecessary "u" now and then, but sometimes I can't be bothered to edit every little thing...

And sommat of what I type hasn't got American versions, anyway, and I do slang out a little now and then, wotcher.

And a thousand is old, the rest is relative youth, everybody, so XP.

Maths are overrated.

I wish they made rotary cellphones, like princess-styled, because I'd totally have one, and use it, even.

And phone cords should totally make a comeback, I'm tired of having to set a story in the past just to get to kill a character by having them strangled with one...

They do make those handheld corded receivers that plug into modern phones (including cell phone) through the audio jack. They're cute. Less cute when I see them in public though, since people tend to scream into them on the bus and train just as much as they would if they were actually in their living rooms. Manners: we need to bring those back.

I was born gamer and resisted until about 12-13 when I discovered 'Tales of Symphonia. The graphics blew me away, I saved my lunch money, bought it and haven't looked back since. It's such an expensive hobby though, especially now that I'm 'an adult' (whatever that means) and so snobby that when I do buy new I want the CE. Glad I never developed expensive tastes in anything else.

I had to quite Pokemon cold turkey several years ago. I realized I would never actually be able to catch them all. D: It was starting to wear on my nerves.

I actually just picked up Anno 2070. The series seems interesting so far.

Oh, I can't stand people who do their private things loudly in public. I agree, people need better manners.

No, I meant 'playing pokeman' like I literally pretended that I was a pokemon. Also the trading cards, I collected those too. I had an awesome childhood. I think Pokemon Snap for the '64 remains one of my all-time favourite console games. xD Because ... yeah.

Also, @Poet: King's Quest 7 is the seventh one in the series. owo /helpful

And yeah, I've seen those phone attachments too, the old handset receiver ones. I was pretty sure those were for hipsters. xD I will confess they are cute though.

Oh! And speaking of phones and manners, I hate it when I'm working behind a counter and someone comes up talking on their phone and talk through the entire transaction. So rude.

I just ask because I've played a number of the KQ series but I never paid attention to the numbers.

Oh gosh those people are awful... I will always hang up if it's my turn in line.

xD Gotcha. The 7th one is the kind of cheesy, cartoony one where Rosella and her mother get sucked into a pond and she gets like, turned into a troll... That one's my absolute fave. Hands down.

And I know, how hard is it to say, "hang on, I'm at the checkout/counter, I'll call you back?" and actually talk to the person in front of your face and treat them with decency and courtesy? So many people don't though.

I know, right? xD They might be a little outdated ... but hey. There was actually some awesome writing, music, and world design in that game. Almost twenty years later and the little songs will still pop into my head from time to time. The puzzles were fun too.
