I couldn't have stopped reading the books even if I'd tried. I had to finish them no matter what happened. My friends and I read the last book in one sitting together, and there was a lot of crying and vehement discussion involved.

I've accepted canon for what it is. Those books changed my life and I will always treasure them. But now, I think JK's time with those characters is over, and they belong to the fans now. (Not legally, of course, but you know, in spirit.) Characters who died have a real afterlife in our hearts and there is nothing canon can do to change that.

Is JK even writing anymore books? I haven't heard anything about her after the 7th HP book.

She's written several adult fiction novels. They've gotten mixed reviews.
She's also working on a film script based on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. So, more wizarding world to come in a few years, just not Harry and company.

Eh, I think I was giving up on the books at that point anyways and that was just the last straw. the only reason I was reading anymore was gone. It's a problem of mine, adhd and books I get tired of the plot real quick because I can tell where it's going. Not all the detail, just the main plot line and that's enough that I don't want to read any more.

I heard she wrote something else under another name, because its completely different to Harry Potter and she didnt want to get any sort of 'false fame' attracted to the book from her other stuff or get the fans crossing over or something because the two books are so drastically different in content. I cant remember if that was proved to be true or not though.

Maybe I just was like its all over and I don't care about JK anymore. I moved on to Twilight, which there are things that I don't like Stephanie Myers for writing. And there was a book called Ghostgirl by Tonya Hurley... I only read the first one and she hadn't published anymore at the time. I really need to finish the series. I did like it.

Y'all got me beat. I haven't read something that wasn't on a facebook feed or a scientific journal in a long while. Occasionally I find my sci-fi/horror short stories and read a third of one.

I honestly can't imagine my life without reading - I'm kinda a junkie for stories, even if I know where they are going. The journey and the details, mmm yeah.
But yeah, I can see why you dropped the books at that point.

True! She wrote a detective crime novel, using a male pseudonym. The first one is The Cockoo's Calling. I haven't read it, but it got good reviews.

I tried to read Twilight once and immediately got bored and annoyed with it. I think if I gave it another try now I'd enjoy it though.

I LOVE BOOKS, MAN.

I don't read fanfiction anymore. I haven't done that since the dirty ones were called lemons.

There are only a few authors who can keep me reading because I have no clue what's going on next. Pratchett, Gaiman, Anthony, Asimov are some.

Wait they're not lemons anymore??

Comics are my dig now.
I will occasionally read a fan fic now and then, but the characterization has to be spot on for me to get into it. I've written a few mostly crack fics, but I did write one long-ass mostly lemon fic. (only kinda proud that I was able to write that much)

Lemons? That must have been before my time. Or maybe I just wasn't clued in. I've never heard those stories referred to as anything but smut or fluff.

Apparently fluff was called lime, but I never saw that. I think I found fanfiction just before they started calling the dirty ones lemons. I LOVED crackfics! I was IN a crackfic once.
/I read Harvest Moon fanfiction written by my friends, if you're curious
/and was mortified at the existence of lemons
/BUT I quit fanfiction long, long ago

I have several iterations of a Snape fanfic hiding on my harddrive. Instead of inventing an original character to be my surrogate, I just wrote myself directly into the wizarding world. It is wildly self-indulgent and I have a lot of fun with it. And it will never, ever see the light of day.

I am hella willing to share my shitty fics with anyone who has the mind to read them. I just need to know that the smut one will not be brought up in any conversation. period. But my best crack fic is actually here on Mene somewhere. XD
