A rain app?

Why not just move to the UK if you want rain?

So I'm home sick today and I just got off the phone with my boss. Cuts to the government spending mandated mold remediation has cost me my job. Instead of working until the end of November my season is up beginning of September. I'm pissed to say the least. I've been feeling like utter shit for a few months; lethargic uninterested, bored with everything, accepting of the fact that I don't have friends because I'm a sarcastic asshole who really couldn't care less. And I was just starting to feel better since i was back at my park job doing something i love with a group of people who don't hate me. Now I get to face the reality that I'll probably be unemployed again in just over a month. And sitting at home still in my PJs drinking honey tea with a cat on my lap watching Jeff Corwin nature shows my mind too groggy to start looking at my ramshackle resume and start applying to any job available. Forget the fact that I was trying to write again or trying to draw more to keep my brain from going further down its self destructive spiral. Just, fuck this shit.

Hope things work out for you though.

I'm team Instinct. And will be applying to jobs for the foreseeable future. I would rather be drawing or writing. And I've been doing pretty well as far as writing goes. My AO3 account is really easy to find.

Playing with bugs at work. Still trying to keep my self distracted from the inevitable gloom cloud by trying to write.
I'm pretty proud of some of the pictures I've taken at/for work lately.

I actually enjoy most bugs, but we're doing collection survey of dragonfly nymphs for a mercury study. And we got this really cool tool/toy for taking macro pictures with a phone camera and I'm having tons of fun with it.

Dragonflies are incredible animals. Just swoosh and dive!! And they eat the other bugs!

Infestation of book lice. They've been eating my collection for the better part of a month. It's only a matter of time before they start falling apart now.

Yeah, my guy had gotten me a couple of really nice giant water bugs too. He found them out by the vending machines.
All of my collection was found dead in the park, I have trouble killing for the sake of collecting.

Aww that is great longcat that you found your entire collection dead in the park. I really appreciate that. I mean, even if they are bugs or insects. I know people usually think about mammals or reptiles regarding the whole not killing just for collecting purposes. Especially mammals or reptiles that are cute. So I think it is awesome that you would take care to treat bugs or insects the same way.

Bugs are just as neat as vertebrates! And so pretty too. All animals should be treated more or less the same. Bugs are just as useful, or moreso than vertebrates.

Because of that neat tool we have at work I've been able to take some really nice pictures of my bugs. i haven't had any love ones other than dragonfly naiads to try it on. I'd love to try to get some pictures of some of the tiger beetles e have at e park.
I also really want to use it to get pictures of some of the flowers and maybe see what it does for feathers.

that is very cool, longcat :D

I have heard of dragonfly naiads and also dragonfly nymphs. What is the difference between those two? And is the dragonfly in your photograph that you shared a dragonfly naiad, dragonfly nymph, or something else?

Naiad and nymph are almost interchangeable. Dragonflies have an aquatic 'baby' stage, that's a naiad, then they emerge/she'd/transform into adults. Nymph is another term for that early stage but it's more appropriate for damselflies and other insects.
Thy photo was of a dead adult.

---------- Post added 08-12-2016 at 02:41 AM ----------

This is a naiad.

It happens. I don't have my collection treated or properly stored so it was bound to happen. At least I got some nice pictures.
We're finally getting some rain. eight weeks with no rain and extreme heat. Not a fan.
