We don't exactly have Renaissance fair, but we had something similar, just not as big as most are in the States, in neighboring city. It really was fun. :D

I'd love to wear costumes and attend events. I hope I can afford it some day.

A lot of them have rental places at the gate if you wanted to dress up.
We have been building costumes for years a piece or two at a time.
The after Halloween sale is usually great to get things like wings or wigs.
