They said it was "unfair" for children who didn't believe in god to have to say under god, so they tried to take it out all together. I'm not sure if they succeeded or not. To me it would have just been easier to have those who don't believe in god to skip over that part while others say it

All her articles are pretty awesome, I spent hours reading it when I first found it.

Ah. No wonder. I remember having to say it back then, and I was all like, "...But I'm not a Christian, why do I have to say God? *confused little kid back then*"

I wonder if they have anything to use in its place if God is off-limits now, or if each individual uses their own deity and every time the recital reaches that part it becomes a chaotic mix of different deities being said at the same time.
