The way the ads are so obtrusive, it reminds me of ad ware. We had something like that on our Windows 7 last year, it would block things, take over tabs and buttons and redirect them, drove us nuts.

You may have to do a system restore. If you started with just Windows 8 and not 8.1, you can just download it from the store thingy for free.

BUT FIRST, I suggest you grab AVG (the free one) and Spybot Search and Destroy
