"You're too nice a guy to do that, Stevie," Bucky retorted, grinning. "We both know that."

"Am not," Steve said. "Ungrateful jerk." He grinned, though. The teasing was normal enough that he knew they were both at ease.

"Are too," Bucky replied, dodging another half-hearted punch to the arm. "Just admit I'm right, Stevie."

"You're not right. I would let you flail, and I'd laugh." Steve grinned, not trying to pursue him yet.

"You've been around Stark and Tasha too long, then," Bucky said with a bit of a grin.

"They're like parasites, can't get rid of 'em," Steve said with a teasing grin. "They'll grow on you too if you give them half a chance."

"Careful, don't let them hear that," Bucky replied, snickering a bit. "I'm not taking the fall for that comment, that's all on you."

Steve cracked a grin. "Don't worry, they can't kick me out," he said. "Pretty sure they'd say the same of me, so."

Bucky snickered.

"Yeah, I bet," he said. "So what about you? You got a date or what?"

"Yeah, but I'm set," Steve said with a little grin. "Should be fun. I hope." He paused. "If it's not, I'm doing something wrong."

"You'll be fine," Bucky said. "C'mon. How could she not like you?"

Steve snorted and rolled his eyes. "It does happen, you know," he said calmly. "Not everyone likes me."

Bucky snorted.

"Everyone likes you," he said. "Except Doom, but seriously, with a name like that? He's got to hate everyone."

"He does," Steve agreed, making a face. "And not everyone else likes me." But he didn't argue the point further. He knew it was futile.

"I'll believe it when I see it, Stevie," Bucky said. "So, what's she like? She'd better be amazing, if she's gonna be worth your attention."

Steve rolled his eyes. "She's nice," he said. "Seems kind of sweet, but still a little sassy. She's got plans, things she wants to do."

"You always did have a thing for the sweet ones," Bucky teased. "When you could get them to notice you, at least."

"Shut up," Steve grumbled. "You haven't told me much about the girl you're seeing."

This time it was Bucky who turned a bit red and looked away.

"She's nice," he said. "Bit of sass in her too, I think."

"Uh huh. Not surprised." Steve grinned. "Pretty sure you'd get bored with someone who didn't have some sass."

Bucky just raised an eyebrow because hey, he wasn't the one to nearly hook up with Peggy way back when. Steve had no room to talk.

Steve just grinned.

Later that night, though, he headed out on his date. He was still in a good mood, and not as nervous about this one.

Steve being at ease was helping Hillary, as well. She was able to be more relaxed about the upcoming date, and she was in a good mood when she met him at the coffee shop.

"Hi," Steve said with a little grin. "How are you doing?" He opened the door for her, motioning for her to go in first.

"Fine, you?" Hillary replied, smiling. She went inside when he opened the door for her.
