"It would all be true," Hillary pointed out with a grin. "Not one lie." She paused. "Maybe a slight exaggeration here and there, but only tiny ones."

"Uh huh." Steve rolled his eyes. "Only tiny ones. Sure." He paused when the sandwiches were set down.

"By the time you two were done they'd have to change the exhibit."

Hillary couldn't help but laugh as she grabbed a sandwich.

"Not necessarily," she said. "They've got you portrayed as pretty perfect already."

"No, see, Bucky would tell them about us getting into trouble in Brooklyn," Steve said with a grin.

Hillary snickered.

"I may need to hear about some of that," she said, grinning.

Steve grinned, slipping a little more Brooklyn into his voice accidentally. "I used to get in scraps all the time. Didn' matter that I was small. Someone had to stand up to 'em, y'know? So Buck would pull me out of 'em all the time." He snorted quietly. "Used to say I had 'em on the ropes. He never believed me."

Hillary couldn't help but grin.

"I'm not surprised," she said. "And do I hear a hint of New York in there somewhere?"

"Brooklyn," Steve admitted. "Grew up in Brooklyn, Buck and I both." He grinned, rubbing the back of his neck. "Apparently Captain America being from Brooklyn was bad for the image, or so the senator thought, because he got me some lessons so I wouldn't have the accent anymore before I went on the USO tour."

"I wish I could punch him in the face," Hillary said. She grinned. "I love the accent. My mother is from the Bronx, so I grew up hearing a New York accent occasionally."

Steve grinned crookedly. "I'll keep that in mind," he said. "Glad to know you don't mind, doll."

Hillary just smiled a bit at that.

"As long as you don't mind letting me hear it once in a while," she said.

"Not at all." Steve grinned. "Would probably annoy the hell out of Tony too, but that's another matter."

Hillary waved a hand.

"That's just a bonus," she said, grinning. "He needs to be harmlessly annoyed sometimes, I think."

"You and Clint will get along fabulously once you get to talking," Steve said with a grin. "Clint loves nothing more than annoying Tony. He has several Nerf weapons now and a whole stash of bright purple darts and he likes shooting people, especially Tony. Especially Tony after he's been up for over twenty four hours and is working on something potentially dangerous."

Hillary blinked and couldn't help but laugh.

"That sounds amazing," she said. "How do you even live with these people? They must think you're so uptight."

"They did at first," Steve said. "Tony and I didn't get along very well at the beginning." He was quiet for a moment. "Having Bucky back helps some."

"I can imagine," Hillary said, nodding. "He's your best friend, it makes sense that you like it better now that he's back."

Steve smiled a bit. "There are some other things that are pretty great, too," he said with a bit of a grin. "Having an actual excuse to get out of the tower helps, too." He paused, tilting his head a bit.

"Of course, the company is better than the reason for getting out." He grinned at her.

Hillary couldn't help but smile and blush at that.

"Now you're just being nice," she said.

"I am being honest, isn't Captain America supposed to be honest?" Steve asked with a smirk that said he knew exactly what his reputation was and exactly how to use it to his advantage.

"Doesn't mean it's not still flattery," Hillary replied, still blushing and grinning a bit. "Besides, you're not Captain America all the time. You told me yourself that sometimes you like to just be Steve."

Steve smiled, softer. "True," he agreed, although he didn't specify to which part. "Am I not allowed to flatter you?" He slid his hand across the table to cover one of hers.

Hillary turned a bit pink again.

"I guess I'm just not used to it," she said. She moved her hand slightly to curl her fingers around his.

"I'll get you used to it," Steve promised, his fingers gentle on hers, but his eyes intent and focused.

"Bold claim," Hillary teased softly, looking up a bit at him. She could feel how focused and intent he was, though, and that intimidated her a bit. She'd never had someone focused entirely on her, before, not the way he was.
