I am quite safe. I live in Reykjavik and if you google Reykjavik and Bardarbunga, you can see it's quite a way's away xD And of course it's shaking, you can't really expect a volcanic eruption to be quiet. That would just be doom O.O

a quiet volcano would be really confusing.

now is probably a good time to start researching ash fallout procedures if you haven't though. That stuff is a choking hazard.

I know that. We're still having ash flying around from Eyjafjallajökull. It takes a long time to settle and it won't settle easily. Pets will have to be kept indoors, windows closed, tape at any crack so the ash won't get in. Pets even can't go out on the balcony. Currently if anyone presses the link to the volcano, you can't see it. There's too much smoke.

Yeah, we know how our volcano's work xD

The camera is going nuts in that link. It's shaking to the point I think it might just disconnect xD

That's just what I think. It's shaking a bit too much :P and there's this pink and blue glow there xD lol. Could just be the reflection of the sun in the camera.

Pink could be lava but I don't remember anything being blue XD

It is hard to imagine ash taking so long to finally settle. I never considered how it would effect pets. You are experiencing stuff stories are based on.

Wow... it looks so different at night. In day I could barely see anything.

I like the night view more... because you can see where it is hot and all easier.

It's both beautiful and scary at the same time. But I agree, the night view is the best view. You can really see the glow and it's just amazing!
But one must always keep in mind it's dangerous too xD

Very dangerous indeed. Is the lava and quakes causing any damage?

So far, no. It's just a fissure with lava shooting up it. But I can tell you this plenty of smoke and possible ash is getting into the air.

That would make the air sketchy to breathe. Some of the world's deadliest natural events are so beautiful when not wrecking havoc.

I'm enjoying going through all the webcams, not all of them seem to be live feed, but a lot are. Seems like it's a wet day in Iceland today!

Rain sounds good. I'd think rain would help get some of the ash to the ground.

Activity is still going on but now they think it's not going to be as big of a problem as they first thought. I think that's good. As long as it doesn't get any worse than it already is, it's fine :P Kinda looks like a demon rising from hell at night xD haha

I guess the media doesn't see it as too much of a threat, neither do we, so the news on it are probably just laying low xD But uhm, I see that there is some news in Icelandic and I'll roughly translate that there is danger from the gas coming from the volcano. You cannot go near the place without wearing a gasmask. I'll see if I find the news in English for you guys to read.

So I found the news and here it is: Bárđarbunga subsidence "grave concern" - mbl.is

Why would you think that? Volcanoes and hot springs are apart of the life on the island.

Sorry for my lack of updates. I've been rather busy.

The volcanic activity is about to end, so the news say, though there are still earthquakes around the area as I would assume is to be expected.

This volcano hasn't done any real damage so that's good. It wasn't as big a deal as previously thought but it never hurts to be safe, especially when we don't know what we're really dealing with.

But in other news there are some new geysers appearing not too far from where I live, just on the outskirts of town away from any town but still close enough. Hopefully that place won't be erupting or else I'll be in the danger zone lol.

Ah, but no worries! Just cross your fingers and hope for the best.
