"I'll try to keep that all to a minimum," Tessa promised. "No guarantees, but I'll try."

"Whatever you can do is appreciated," Steve said with a brief grin. "Although since Clint seems to like her alright, I expect they'll get into some trouble, but that's normal."

"We'll see if Anna likes him at all," Tessa said. "There's a chance she won't." She shrugged a bit. "Sometimes Anna's not very social."

"Definitely sounds like Tony," Steve said with a bit of a grin. "Sometimes social, sometimes not. Doesn't eat very much, absorbed in work, easily distracted."

"That's exactly it," Tessa said, nodding. She grinned. "You have no idea how comforting it is to know there are other people who have to put up with that, too."

Steve grinned. "We all do, although Bruce and I mostly deal with trying to get Tony to eat and sleep and not stay up for days at a time working."

"Anna's exactly like that," Tessa said. "I usually have to remind her to eat at least one proper meal a day, and I try to make sure she sleeps regularly."

"Exactly. It's a good day when we can get Tony to sit down to dinner with us, and it's a really good day when he has at least a snack on top of that." Steve grinned.

"I put Anna on a schedule," Tessa said. "Or something resembling one. Maybe more of a checklist." She grinned a bit. "As long as she gets at least five hours of sleep a day and one solid meal, I count it as a win. Even better if I can push snacks on her in between."

"Sounds about right," Steve agreed with a little grin. "I know exactly how that goes. It's kind of a pain, but if we don't take care of them, they'd run themselves into the ground."

"Exactly," Tessa said, nodding. It was nice to finally have someone who understood exactly how she felt.

Steve nodded. "It's hard work, but it has its rewards." He headed back to the kitchen. "You want anything? We've got all kinds of sodas and juice, at least."

"I'm good," Tessa said. "Thanks though." She was a little surprised at the offer. She hadn't expected anyone to treat her like she'd been welcome from the start.

Steve nodded and got himself a glass of water, just leaning against the counter keeping tabs on everyone, listening for any disruptions.

Tessa explored the kitchen a bit, poking around into cupboards and drawers. It was a surprisingly varied stock, and she made a mental note to mention that to Anna.

Things stayed quiet for another three days, up until yelling from the lab brought basically everyone down to check. Because Tony grumbling was normal, but yelling was not.

And since Anna had been inside having a snack, she headed down, too.

"Honestly, Stark, what are you shouting about?" Clint said as he peeked into the lab. He was careful not to touch the edges of the doorway; Tony tended to use a lot more iron than he really realized. "I could hear you without my hearing aids, damn."

"What's all this about?" Anna was behind Clint, glancing around and trying to find the cause of all the hullabaloo. Really, she was half-expecting to find an axe murderer in there with him or something.

"I don't know how it got in here, but it needs to get the hell out again!" Tony said, pointing towards a corner of his lab. "I don't care how!"

Anna blinked and went to go investigate. A moment later she smiled, her eyes flashing briefly with power, before she knelt down.

"It's okay, he's not going to throw anything else at you," she cooed, coaxing a little kitsune out of the corner. "Yes, you're safe now."

The kitsune, finding a sympathetic person, immediately whimpered and cuddled in close to her, hooking his small marbled silver and black head over her shoulder to glare at Tony and stick his tongue out briefly.

Tony just glared back.

"Take it away," he said. "I don't care what you do with it, just get it out of my lab."

"Don't worry, we're going," Anna said, glancing at him briefly as she headed out of the room again.

"That went surprisingly well," Steve said with a little grin.

"How did a kitsune even get in here?" Tessa asked, watching Anna leave with the little thing. "That's the question."

Steve shrugged. "Maybe she'll find out?" It seemed to be a good guess, since she seemed quite intent on the little thing.

"She'd better," Tessa said. "Otherwise other things might get in, too. And as amusing as it is to watch Stark flip his lid, it's probably still not a good idea."
