Clint didn't mind her being around, in fact. He knew she was part Fae, and had known from the start, but he certainly didn't have any skill with some of the animals in the menagerie. Circus animals, yes. Dragons and shit, hell no. She was more than welcome to those.

It took Anna two days to get around to every creature and get at least a basic reading on each. Everything had gone as well as could be expected so far, and she knew for a fact that some of the creatures could be trained well enough to be let out to roam.

But some of them, like the wyvern Clint had mentioned, would not get along well with anything else.

Over those two days, Natasha had finally come out of wherever she had been silently watching, and had graduated to openly watching as Anna worked. Clint might have been easy about allowing another part-Fae to wander about, but Natasha was much more cautious.

Elsewhere, Tessa had spent those two days exploring, and had made tentative friends with a local pack of Hellhounds.

Anna was more focused on the group of animals she was supposed to be working with, not any of the local animals. Which is why she didn't realize sooner that the local pack of Hellhounds were trouble makers, and were bound to get caught sooner or later.

And they were caught, about three days later, and Tessa with them. She'd been running with the pack when they'd stumbled over the wrong authorities, and the pack as a whole had been snapped up.

Fortunately, they weren't relocated immediately, but it was decided that they were too used to people and needed either one home or to be separated and rehomed. The majority of the pack came to the Avengers lot, at least initially, because Tony refused to let them be separated just yet. He was a surprisingly okay person, Anna had discovered.

Especially when she found Tessa in with the rest of the pack and momentarily hung her head.

Tessa at least had the sense to look contrite. She hadn't expected to get mistaken for a Hellhound, but there was nothing she could do about it at the moment without revealing herself as a shapeshifter, and she just didn't want that yet.

Tony noticed Anna's expression when she saw the pack.

"What?" he asked. "What's with that look? It's not like you haven't seen Hellhounds before, I know there are a few here already, there's no reason for that look."

"No, it's not that," Anna said, looking at the pack. "Just that I know one of them. Wasn't expecting to find her here, normally she's smarter, and I didn't think the pack was quite this large. More like an extended family group, not the normal immediate family group." She didn't point out Tessa just yet, instead looking over the rest of the group. "It'll take some time to sort them all out."

Tony raised an eyebrow.

"You know one of them?" he asked, skepticism clear. "You've been here, what, a week? How do you know one of them?"

Anna shrugged. "Long story," she evaded. "Complicated, too. No time for it right now." She was already trying to label the different subdivisions within the group so she could separate them appropriately. "How long have we got them for?"

"Ninety days," Tony replied. "To get them either trained or re-housed."

"Right. I can deal with that." Anna rolled her shoulders. "I'll need four separate runs set up for these guys, I'm going to subdivide them to start with. We'll see how it goes from there."

"Let Jarvis know what you need, he'll make sure it happens," Tony said, waving a hand.

"Yeah, sure, okay," Anna said, already back to walking around the pack. Tony wasn't the only one getting distracted by work.

Plus she had to figure out how to get Tessa out without someone noticing a discrepancy in the numbers.

Unfortunately, there was someone else a bit quicker on the uptake.

"That one," Natasha said, coming out of nowhere and gesturing to one of the hounds, "is not a Hellhound."

Anna wavered for a few moments before she nodded. There was no way she'd get past Natasha. Clint or one of the others, probably, but not Natasha.

"Right you are," she said, motioning for Tessa to head over to her. "Which is why I know her."

"Wait, what?" Tony asked, his attention recaptured. "Not a Hellhound? Then what the hell did I pay for?"

Tessa hesitated a bit, and then went over to Anna. Busted.

"This one's a shapeshifter." There was no way Tessa was going to get away without them knowing, so Anna figured she'd tell them and keep them from doing anything. "And she's with me. She's been living with me for the past few years."

"A shapeshifter," Tony deadpanned. "Great."

Tessa looked a bit embarrassed, and folded her ears back a bit. Yeah, she was busted. She wasn't going to shift back yet, though; she had nothing to wear, and she wasn't about to go nude in front of people she didn't know well enough. She didn't mind Anna, not at all, but everyone else was another story.

Anna gave Tony a bit of a warning look. "I told you, this one's mine," she said. "You don't have to worry about her. If you want I'll repay you." Although she already planned on making as many of the pack as possible sellable. It made things easier for everyone.

Tony just made a face and waved a hand. The cost of one 'Hellhound' was next to nothing, to him.

"Make sure she doesn't cause trouble," he said.

"She won't," Anna said, giving Tessa a bit of a look. She'd get the full story later, though. She motioned for Tessa to follow her and went to go let Jarvis know what she needed so she could get to work again.

Tessa followed Anna, carefully not looking at anyone as she did. She got the feeling that she was in a bit of trouble, outside of the trouble the Hellhounds originally got into.

Anna got the Hellhounds broken up into sub-groups and let them settle in for the night, doing a quick check of the rest of the territory before she decided she was done for the day and headed back to her car, holding the door for Tessa.

"Well, that could have been worse."

Tessa just gave Anna a look that said 'speak for yourself' and jumped into the car. She'd shift back as soon as they got back to the hotel.
