"Good." Joker swept her up into the air. "I do like making you laugh."

Lori kissed him gentle. "The pain may never go away but we have Martha and Helena to give all your love too and you have me and I'll do all I can do make you feel better. I'll do anything." she squeezed his hand tightly a firey look off determination in her eyes.

Gemini couldn't help but chuckle. "Then I guess we're a perfect match." She said, smiling.

Bruce squeezed her hand back. "Thank you, Lori. I'm not sure I could get through this alone." He said, pulling her in for a hug. He was lucky to have her, and he knew it.

"Come on I think you've brooded enough let's return to the light and I'll cook for you." Lori hugged him back making plans to talk to Joker.

"So we do we feed all of them?" Joker mused setting her down.

Bruce nodded and followed her quietly, not having the energy or the desire to stay there any longer.

Gemini snorted. "No, I figured we'd feed Martha and let the twins go hungry." She said sarcastically. "As long as we're taking care of her, of course we're feeding all of them."

Lori placed Bruce in a chair before going to the stove to cook humming as she did.

Joker smirked a little. "I thought maybe Lori would be back soon and she didn't want us to feed Martha before she could."

Bruce sat quietly, watching Lori. He couldn't understand how someone like her could exist in such an unfair world.

Gemini shook her head. "She's going to need some time with Bruce. We'll probably have Martha for a few hours, at least."

Joker sighed. "Is it weird to say that a child makes me nervous?" He glanced at Martha was trying to pet the hyenas.

Lori finished cooking and placed the spaghetti on the table. "There. Now much sure to eat or I'll feed you myself." She kissed him gentle before sitting down.

Gemini shook her head. "No, it's normal...at least it is with Lori's kids. I remember being downright terrified once when I babysat Lena." She said.

Bruce simply nodded and started to eat. He found that it was difficult to swallow, and he didn't really taste the food at all. He probably would have refused to eat completely if it weren't for Lori watching him.

"Do I even want to know what happened?" Joker raised his eyebrow.

As he ate Lori held his hand kissing it on occasion.

Gemini chuckled. "Let's just say she learned her mother's laugh. She didn't actually do anything to me, but the evil laugh was enough to scare me silly." She said. "One of Lori's specialties, actually."

Bruce acknowledged Lori's attention once in a while by gently squeezing her hand back. About halfway through his dinner, he stopped eating. "I don't think I can finish." He said blankly. Usually, he ate two helpings.

"OK love you don't have to finish. Let's do something else." Lori put down her cork and rested her head on his chest.

"Sounds creepy." Joker looked over as Martha started to make friends with the hyenas. "Well there go them." He laughed.

"Okay..." Bruce said, instinctively wrapping his arms around her. It was like he was broken. He just didn't know what to do with himself.

Gemini smiled. "It was, but I eventually got used to it." She said. "Yeah, I knew she'd win them over eventually. She's already got Lucifer and Ace wrapped around her finger."

"Or we could just cuddle." Lori chuckled then hugged Bruce tightly. "Lets at least go to the couch."

"Well there dogs not savage killers." Joker sighed. "Oh well I'm under her spell as well so I can't complain."

"Okay..." Bruce said again, standing up. At least now he had an objective, albeit a small one: get to the couch. "Maybe bed instead..." He added, deciding that bed would be more comfortable.

Gemini crossed her arms. "Lucifer is half wolf, and he helped me kill Harley." She defended. "I can't speak for Ace, he's a giant puppy. But Lucifer lives up to his name."

"Alright, alright jeez." Joker sighed. "I can't just make a point that Lori's child is strange."

Lori nodded. "Bed it is." she lead the way holding his hand tightly making sure he didn't get left behind. "Bed." she sat down pulling him with her.

"That's all you have to say. No need to drag the animals into it." Gemini said. "Anyway, we can't say much, considering how odd our own children are." She added, noting that Cal was now riding Lucifer, while April looked like she was instructing the hyenas. "Is she telling them to do something??"

Bruce followed Lori quietly. When they got to the bed, he had a moment when he wasn't sure whether to lay down or keep wandering aimlessly, but Lori pulled him down and made the decision for him. He landed face first on the bed and stayed that way. "Bed." He said, voice muffled.

Lori couldn't help but giggle a little. "yes love bed." she curled against him and combed her fingers threw his short hair humming a lullaby as she did.

"Possible." Joker laughed and looked at the kids. "They are a strange bunch."

"If I sleep...can I sleep until I see Damian again?" Bruce asked, already falling asleep as he asked.

Gemini nodded. "they take after their parents, after all." She said. April looked like a tiny drill sergeant, ordering the hyenas around in baby talk. The scary part was that they were listening. "I have a feeling she's got my animal-talking ability."

"Know that's a scary thought." Joker blinked a little then grimaced. "Squirrels attack."

"WHAT!? No you may not! I need you Bruce you can't leave me if you leave me I'll die!" Lori pulled him to her chest. "Don't ever leave me."

Gemini shuddered. "I always knew this day would come. Squirrelmageddon." She said. At that point, it seemed that Cal was leading Lucifer in a play-battle against April and the hyenas.

Bruce sighed and nodded. "I'm sorry. I won't." He said, sounding genuinely sorry. "I'm just tired."

"OK." Lori was crying into his hair. "Just sleep I'll be right here."

Joker half stood as April and Cal tried to get the animals to play fight ready to step in though it looked like Martha was playing referee.

Though Bruce wanted to apologize again for making her cry, he found that he couldn't talk anymore. He was asleep within moments.

Lucifer looked ashamed as Cal used him like a horse, now apparently pretending to be a cowboy. April had lost interest, but the hyenas were being herded like cattle. "What are they playing? Calcifer, leave the animals alone." Gemini said. Cal pouted, but got off of Lucifer, who promptly ran away to hide.

Lori didn't sleep at she was so worried that she kept checking Bruce's pulse ready if he should wake from a nightmare.

"Poor creatures." Joker shook his head then jumped as Martha accidently hurt herself and started to cry. "Oh boy."

Bruce stirred a few times in his sleep, and once whimpered as if he were having a nightmare, but never woke up. For the most part, he just looked sad.

Gemini acted immediately, jumping up and running to scoop Martha up. "Hush, now, it's all right...can you show Auntie where it hurts?" She asked in a soothing voice, obviously well practiced at this.

Martha held up a slightly red finger pouting and crying. "Owwy.'' she complained.

Lori brushed Bruce's hair thinking with a sudden thought she dug a book she had taken from a compound that if Talia had know she had gotten into several guards would be dead and began to read.
