"Fine." Martha pouted more than handed the twins there presents. "Here." She smiled. She gave them both something the both really liked with a little hand made flare. For Cal it was a game controller and for April a dagger she had stolen with her mother though no one but the two of them knew that.

April smiled happily. "Thanks! I'll keep this on me when I go walking at night." She said. She didn't seem to have any other ideas for how to use it. "Here, open mine first!" She shoved a box at Martha. Inside was a utility belt. "I made it myself! It's just like Batman's, except smaller and lighter, more compact to be better suited for a girl. It's got different compartments for all sorts of things, and I made it your favorite color!" She seemed pleased with herself.

Cal looked a little jealous, but still smiled. "Thanks Martha. This is perfect, especially since someone used my only other one for parts." He cast a look at his father. "You can open my present next." He held out a small box with a bow on top, which seemed to be hiding some holes. A tiny mewing sound came from inside. Opening the box would reveal a little fluffy white kitten with big blue eyes and a red ribbon around it's neck. He had saved up for months, and searched even longer to find just the right kitten.

Martha stared at it and then squealed handing the kitten to her mother she tackled Cal. "Oh thank you Call!!!" She crushed him tightly. "Know I owe you a second gift...a kitten...you don't fight fair." She let go and gathered the kitten to her. "Acey look." She press the kitten to the dog the old puppy sniffed the kitten huffing a little. "Are you jealous? I still love you. I'm sure you and Artemis will be best friends." She smiled at the dog then looked at Cal. "I'll get you a dagger and a utility knife." She vanished only to reappears with the items.

Cal raised his hands. "No, you don't have to-" He was cut off when Martha disappeared and returned. "Martha, it's a present, you don't have to repay me for it." He said, turning pink.

April glared at her brother. Her present had been ignored completely, even though she had made it herself.

Martha hugged the kitten petting and cooing at it. She finally put it down calming down a lot "Sorry I lost the calm there. You know that's not fair to your sister either she gave me a great present from her heart that I'll use every night when I'm out with daddy and you went and bought a kitten."

Cal looked uncomfortable under his sister's angry glare and Martha's chastising. "I'm sorry. I didn't know what she was giving you." He said.

April sniffed. "Apology accepted. Now, can we have cake?" She asked, pleased that Martha was going to use her gift.

Gemini rolled her eyes. "If you want to open the rest of your presents later, I suppose..." She said, unable to finish before three children ran past her to the cake.

Bruce was there to stop them from destroying it completely. "Stop! We'll cut it." He said, going to cut the cake.

Martha made a face. "He's in the way of us getting cake." She looked at her mother for help. "Don't give me that look we all want cake not just the three of you." Lori smiled as she helped Bruce hand out cake.

Cal waited patiently while April hopped up and down in excitement.

Gemini joined in helping. "They're older, but they still act like little kids." She said.

Once everyone had a piece Lori let them eat however they wanted. Martha sprung forward and started to vaccum up the cake.

April jumped forward at the same time to make sure she got just as much.

Cal shook his head, happy with just his one piece of cake. He wondered if the choice question would come up soon.

Martha flopped back sighing as she held out a piece for Cal. "Happy birthday." She smiled.

Cal blushed slightly and smiled, taking the piece. "Thanks, Mari." He said.

April rolled her eyes. "You two are something else...just kiss and get it over with."

"April! That's mean. Don't tease your brother." Gemini said, nervously glancing at Bruce, who had a dark look on his face.

"WHAT!?" Martha turned several shades of pink and jumped away from Cal. "Why would I do that? I mean Cal's like my brother."

Lori grimaced as Martha said that. "Oh boy." she chuckled a little.

Cal's expression clouded over and he moved away from Martha. "Yeah. Just like brother and sister." He said.

April flinched at the unintended rejection, knowing Cal was going to be hurt.

Bruce looked around for any reason to change the subject. "So...Cal, April, have you two made your choices yet?" He asked.

Gemini groaned. That was probably the worst subject change he could have come up with.

"Bruce you know every well we weren't going to ask them and let them decide on there own!" Lori smacked Bruce's arm scowling at him.

Bruce flinched. "I'm sorry!" He said.

"No, that's okay. I decided already, a while ago." Cal said. "I'm going to be a villain."

"And I chose hero." April said. She seemed to be the only one not shocked by her brother's admission.

Gemini's jaw dropped. She prided herself on knowing her children, but even she hadn't seen that coming. Everyone had always assumed it would be the opposite.

"Who are you two and what have you done to the twins?" Martha blinked at them mouth setting as she realized she would be fighting Cal on the street soon.

Lori was surprised but she smiled "If that's what you two want that I think we're all fine with it."

"I'm just happy one of them choose my side." Joker grinned at Cal. "I don't love you any less April."

Cal shrugged. "I'm still me. I made my choice a while ago. So did April." He said.

April sighed in relief. "Thanks, dad." She said. That was the biggest worry she'd had.

Gemini nodded. "That's right. As long as you're both happy, we're fine with whatever you choose." She said.

"Well then...welcome to our side, April." Bruce said, obviously kidding to try and ease the tension.

"You can train with us as much as you want." Martha hugged April. "The other one's not invited though."

"Don't worry I'll show Cal all my tricks...of course if you want to know how to break into a place Lori's the one to ask she's a master." Joker grinned at Lori who blushed at the compliment.

Cal looked a bit hurt at being called "the other one," but didn't say it. "I didn't expect to train with you, anyway." He said, turning to his father and Lori. "I've been practicing picking locks. I'm pretty good."

April hugged Martha back. "I can't wait! Um...Martha, I need to talk to you. Alone." She said, suddenly looking guilty.

"OK." Martha pulled the girl to her room. "What's up?"

Lori smiled at him. "Guess but if they've been Bruce enforces you'll need to break his silent alarm."

Cal shrugged and looked over at his mother. "What about you? Aren't you going to say "no explosives" or something?" He asked.

Gemini grinned mysteriously. "I can't really say much, now that you've chosen. But I will say this: I may be reformed, but I still have plenty of skills to pass on to both you and your sister."

In Martha's room, April looked around and sighed. "Okay, listen. First of all, don't freak out. Second, you can't ever tell anyone that I told you this." She waited for her friend to agree before continuing. "Cal said he chose a while ago, but the truth is he didn't really make up his mind until just today. When you said he was like your brother. Martha...do you really not see it? You're the only one who doesn't know..."

"What do I have anything to do with Cal's choice? It was his to make no one persuaded him." Martha frowned at April.

April groaned and shook her head. "You really don't see it...Mari, Cal likes you. He always has. He made his choice when he realized that you didn't feel the same way, because he couldn't go on working and training with you the way things are. It hurts him too much. Don't ever tell him I told you!" She added suddenly.

Martha blinked at April. "Well of course Cal likes me we are best friends after all." she smirked at April. "Are you feeling ok?"
