Gemini nodded. She didn't take offense- she knew exactly how Damian felt about Joker. "Alright. Just April, or Cal too?" She asked.

"If Cal is good then yes him to." Damien sighed. "Just send them both April will tell him anyways."

Gemini nodded and disappeared down the hall.

Moments later, April appeared with Cal close behind. "What's up?"

"Is it about that news report?" Cal watched the news regularly.

Damien shoved her hands in his pockets. "Yes it is...we are going to stop being hero's for know. We don't have another choice with Clark bearing the presidential flag." He rolled his eyes. "All the other hero's are either backing off or being forced. In my case I was gentle reminded that Clark is way more powerful than me.

April's eyes blazed with fury. "What? But that's so unfair! Do they really think they can handle the villains without us? That's the whole reason superheroes exist in the first place! And what do you mean "gently reminded?" Did he hit you?! That muscle-headed kiss-up teacher's-pet jerk!" She raged.

Cal sighed and used his powers to hold his sister back. "April, calm down. You're right, it's completely unfair, but there's nothing we can do about it. And if you try to go after the president's golden boy, you'll end up an unsolved mystery on the news." He said, correctly guessing that April wanted to find Superman and beat him up.

"I may have started it." Damien admitted. "All he did was push me and well...it really sucked." he chuckled. "Just don't go out to battle. Dad and I are going to figure something out I promise."

April huffed, then sighed and stopped struggling. "Alright, fine. I'll behave. They'll be begging us to step back in once they realize they can't handle things on their own." She said sulkily.

Cal nodded. "Yeah. They'll figure it out soon enough." He said. Cal was usually quiet, but he was being even more quiet than normal that day.

"Just be careful the both of you...thank God your father is retired." Damien sighed in relief. "Let's go Lori." He walked back to the car while Lori hugged and kissed the twins. She hurried to the car and they left Damien lost in thought.

April sighed. "Well...I guess I'll go finish my homework..." She said mournfully. Her nightly patrols were one of the only things she looked forward to, and now they'd been taken away.

Cal watched her go, a hint of a plan already brewing in his mind. He quickly went to his room and locked the door, not saying a word to anyone.

Damien sighed as he paced. "Stupid Clark." He grumbled. "Stupid president." He ran a hand threw his hair trying to think of a way around the law.

Bruce was doing much the same thing in the library, trying and failing to come up with a solution. He couldn't think of anything that wasn't too extreme or outright insane.

A couple years passed and everyone learned to deal with having no more heroes around, even though many people disagreed with it. Over that time, Cal had become increasingly withdrawn, often disappearing for extended periods of time. When asked, he would just say that he was "working on something important" and refuse to answer any more questions. Looking out over what he had accomplished, the assembled thugs who thought they were following someone else, he knew all his hard work was about to pay off. His plan had worked better than he'd expected.

April, meanwhile, had managed to figure out what Cal was up to, but she had decided not to interfere. Though the mutant gang were hurting people, she couldn't do anything about it anyway, and she knew that eventually Cal's scheming would pay off. In the meantime, she hung out with Martha and the others more often. She and Enoch had been getting closer- not that she was about to say anything about it.

Gemini spent more and more time worrying about her children, with the increasing violence that was going on. She also worried about Lori and Bruce, knowing how it affected Bruce to not be able to do anything.

Lori knew it would be any day that Bruce would decide that the mutant gang had out lived there stay in Gotham. She had been keeping a close eye on her daughter glad that the girl was following her father's example and keeping quiet. She was worried about Cal and what he was up to but she had her hands full with Damien, Helena, Martha and Bruce.

Bruce paced back and forth in his study, thinking. He felt sure that he was going crazy, haunted by his past in the present. Something had to be done, and everyone knew it. But he wasn't allowed to do anything. He sighed for perhaps the hundredth time that day and sat down, raking his hands through his hair.

Martha entered the study. "Dad?" She frowned at him. "Aren't we going to do something? Moms even OK with it and if they send Clark mom can nag him to death."

Bruce looked up. "Martha..." He sighed- again. "I want to. You know I do. But I can't risk it. I won't risk your safety." He said to her. "Even if something is done, you will not be part of it. Not this time."

Martha drew herself to her full height. "I have handled much worse. You'll take me or I'll just follow." She fell silent as her mother entered holding her house coat close. "They killed the mayor." Lori shivered.

Bruce looked like he was about to argue with Martha, but before he could Lori came in with news of the mayor's death. His face settled into a hard stare. "Alright. That's enough. Martha, you'll come with me, but you will do exactly as I say with no questions, or you will be sent home. Understood?"

"Yes sir." Martha grinned then went to hug her mother. "I'll look after him mom." she hurried to go get her suit leaving her mom and dad to talk.

"Be careful love." Lori hugged Bruce tightly. "Don't over do it. Your not a young man anymore." she gave him a soft kiss.

Bruce kissed her back gently and nodded. "Don't worry, I'll be careful. And Martha will be there to watch after my old self." He said with a smile. He kissed her again before following Martha to get suited up.

Lori sighed and went to Gemini a large sad pout on her face.

"What a look." Joker blinked and let her in. "Worried, sad, scared Lori alert."

"What's the plan sir?" Martha was waiting for him in a Robin suit the only thing that fit since her usual out fit had shrunk.

Gemini got up to meet her friend. "Lori? What's wrong?" She asked, worried.

"We're going to gather intel." Bruce said. He felt both comfortable and strange in his old suit.
