"Bruce went to go right the mutants...Martha is with him but that doesn't mean I can't worry." Lori sighed.

Martha nodded and then smiled. "I could go under cover I'm the right age to fit in."

Gemini hugged Lori. "I can't tell you not to worry, because you will anyway. But I can try to keep your mind off of it for a while. Come on, let's go watch those Disney movies you sent the twins a few years back." She said. "And we have ice cream."

Bruce smirked. "That was the plan. Here's what you're going to do." He said, and started outlining what he needed from her.

Martha followed her fathers instructions to a tee leading the mutants to the where he wanted them to go. "Everything's all set sir."

"Sounds good to me." Lori followed her still looking worried.

((Okay confession: Wolfie doesn't remember what happens next.))

((basically Bruce beats up the mutant leader then takes on Clint later after he takes back the city.))

((Oh right, right. Wait...doesn't Bruce get hurt pretty bad fighting the mutants? Or was that before?))

Once Martha had gathered the mutants where he needed them, Bruce showed up. It didn't take long for him to get into a fight with their leader.

Behind the scenes, Cal was watching the whole thing. His plan had worked, though he hadn't expected Bruce to come and fight personally.

Martha held her breath ready to jump in if her father couldn't handle it. "You can do it." She whispered then grimaced at the tongue lashing she would get from her mother. Movement caught her eye and she weaved closer once she got close she tackled Cal to the ground pinning him under her.

Realizing who it was, Cal didn't fight back. "Martha, what the hell?!" He hissed, making sure no one could hear them. "Why did you let Bruce come here? It was supposed to be Damian! And can you please get off of me?!"

"Hell no." Martha twisted his arm. "Start explaining and it has better be good." She growled twisting harder leaving him no doubt that she would break it. "You really think dad would have sat back and let them destroy the city? Besides Damien's off training with his mother and Richard's off chasing Alien's with the Titans."

Cal cursed at the pain. "They weren't going to destroy the city!" He said, sounding irritated. "The whole gang is under my control, Martha. I started this operation a couple years ago, after they told us heroes couldn't work anymore." He started to explain, resigning himself to his painful position. "I figured something big had to happen to make Bruce defy the rules. It had to be a city-wide threat, or at least look like it. So I started recruiting. It took two years but I finally managed to get all this organized, and it worked. You and Bruce are back out there, and that'll trigger a response from the government. They'll send Clark and someone- probably Bruce- will beat him down to send a message." He was both proud and ashamed of himself. He had planned and orchestrated the decline of Gotham city, which would have made his father proud. But he had done it with the ultimate goal of changing things and bringing the heroes back, which his mother would have liked. "Even now I still can't be good or bad...I can only be both. I did what I had to. But I swear, Martha, it was never going to go any further. I had a backup plan for if the gang didn't draw you guys out."

Martha started to shake from anger she didn't even notice how hard she was gripping his wrist until she felt it pop out of place and that sound set her off she started to beat him. "You unbelievable ass! Your going to get my father killed! How dare you?! You evil!'' she kicked him panting and stood hurrying off to help her father leaving him there.

Cal cried out in pain, but still didn't fight back. He could have subdued her easily if he wanted to- but he didn't want to. "It was supposed to be Damian!" He called after her, slowly getting up. Ignoring his dislocated wrist, he pressed a button at his hip and spoke into an earpiece. "Fall back, go easy on the Batman." Then another button. "Everyone back down. We're beaten."

The mutant leader, who's earpiece was the one Cal was communicating with, was unable to respond at the moment because he was unconscious. Bruce was hurt, down on one knee, but he had won. The mutants all started falling back, apparently frightened of the man who had beaten their leader. Most of them didn't have to act that part.

Martha appeared at her fathers side the most sore look on her face he had ever seen. "Let's get you back home." she supported his weight grunting as she struggled to help him get back to the batmobile once there she began to patch him up trying to be gentle.

Bruce let Martha help him out. Once they were safely away, he peeked up at his daughter. "You're angry." He said. He could tell easily enough, especially this kind of anger. Only a few people could make Martha look like that. "Cal was behind it, wasn't he?"

"Yes it was." Martha huffed pulling a bandage really tight in her anger. "Sorry." she mumbled. "i never would have thought Cal would have done this." she frowned a little. "Guess he is like his father."

Bruce grunted slightly, but made no other protest of pain. "Did he say why he did it?" He asked. He was rather curious how Cal- quiet, gentle Cal- had managed such a feat that even his father had never pulled off. "Or how, for that matter?"

Martha started to explain fury filling her. She eventually fell silent "Clarks going to come isn't he?" she glanced at him. "What do we do? You could probably taking him with enough Kyrptonite but you'll get really hurt."

Bruce was silent for a moment, absorbing what Martha told him. Then, unexpectedly, he chuckled. "You kids amaze me, you know. Cal was brilliant enough to come up with all this, and pull it off...but not smart enough to realize I would handle things personally." He shook his head. "That kid is hopeless. Yes, Clark will probably come here. And yes, I'll fight him. But I have a plan, and I think if you, Cal, April and your mother all help out...I think it could work."

"Mom won't help. She'll lock you in a Bruce proof room and force me to go to military school." Martha shuddered. "I'm not asking Cal for help either. I'll ask April though she'll say yes." She smiled. "We're almost home. She's going to have a heart attack when she see's you like this." They both knew she meant her mother.

"Okay, maybe not your mother. But I'm going to need both twins to pull this off." Bruce said. "I'll as him if you won't." He shuddered a little at the idea of Lori's reaction to his current state. "I hope she doesn't. I don't think I can save her in this condition."

"Bruce, Martha? Is that you?" Lori emerged from the curse in time to hear Martha's silent curse. She raised an eyebrow and turned to Bruce at once her face lose all color. "What did you do!? I told you to be careful and this is how you come back to me." The worried nag train had left the station and all they could do was listen she even nagged as she helped Martha get Bruce to bed. "And so help me if you get out of that bed before your healed." She glared then headed off to find pain killers. "I think that was her longest worried nag ever...she even managed to nag at me all in one breath...are you sure moms not super powered?" Martha looked to her father blinking.

Bruce was caught between shocked, impressed and worried all at the same time. "Honestly? I've never been entirely sure your mother didn't have powers. She sure is something, though." He said with a pained chuckle.

"Get some rest dad once Clark gets his orders the real fun begins." Martha went off to talk to April. She slipped into the girls window and sighed "you in here April?" She called softly into the room.

Lori entered with pills her mouth set in a line. She didn't speak a word as she helped him take the pills but he could tell she was holding in her tears.
