I am now 25 years old. I teach elementary music and the parents of my students think I am a student....I look really young. But I have always been told that I act much older than I am. I always connected with people older than me. I have always had a drive and mature work ethic. I work in a school where there isn't a lot of teacher turnover...some teachers there have been there thirty years...some twenty....some ten. I'm the youngest teacher there by far. Anyway...they always talk about how things come with age and experience and that young teachers don't get that...except for Maria who acts like she's been teaching twenty years, not three lol. I just get told things Luke that all the time

i still enjoy getting asked for my ID when i go out or when i buy alcohol.
but i also like being told that i seem very wise for my age.
I guess its always a fun surprise to be mistaken for being younger than you are.
all the students parents would be blown away hehe

Quote:
How old do you act?
How I act honestly depends on the situation. If I'm around strangers, or people that I'm trying to impress, I feel as though I act older. When i'm around my friends, I act like either an amazed toddler, or an awkward teenager.

Quote:
Do you act your age?
I don't ever really remember what my age actually is. It's 22, I think. I also don't really know how someone my age should act. Like, am I supposed to be partying and drinking every night... or settling down with a family... I don't know.

Quote:
As you've gotten older has your age changed? Gone up? Down? Sideways?
As I've gotten older, I've noticed that my age has indeed gone up. I was 21 this time last year, and now I'm 22. But on an actually serious note, I think I do continuously act older, as I get older - again, according to the situation.

Quote:
How does your acting age compare to your real age?
Like I said, sometimes it's younger sometimes it's older. I was actually talking to my Business Communications teacher the other day, because she kept referencing older shows. My parents were born in the late 1950s. I've watch a number of the shows she listed, but most in my class had not. I grew up reading the newspaper, and watching the news, other did not. However, if someone were to play a Disney song I'd sing it like my life depended on it - if I was comfortable around the people I was with. Like my friends.

Wrenji-chan: my sweet, you need to put Poet's words in your response inside quote tags
These fellas -->[QUOTE][/QUOTE]

I dunno, do I act my age? Where's it written down telling us how we're supposed to behave depending on our age then? My point being, it isn't. I just act like me. I was a very grown up child, by that I mean quiet and well-behaved. I remember my nan commenting on what a mature kid I was, but that I seemed to plateau in my teens. But your teens is when being a kid stops being fun; secondary school, peer pressure, bullying, all that rubbish, so I think I lost sight of my childhood self at that point.

When people say you act mature or nor for your age, what they mean is you act differently/the same as the majority of other people that they know, which is silly, like I said before, I act like me! So, I have no answer to this question, other people will have opinions on it, but all I can add to this is

I honestly think I act slightly older than my current age most of the time, but there are times when I am with my parents and I feel as if I am back in middle school locked up in the confines of my room.

HA >.> Yeah, parents manage to do this to you, no matter what your age, believe me, it's some genetic thing >.>

Well... technically I'm not genetically related to the people I call my parents. I was adopted. I believe that in order for me to feel less like a child I must take initiative and do more things on my own, that being said my parents are still kind enough to give me a home.

Ah well, yes, I say genetic, but really it's just a Parent thing, with a capital P. Real parents or not, there's a certain way a parent makes a kid feel when they go into parent mode. It seems to be a switch that flicks over in their brain and they just can't help themselves. ><;

They all do it, some way more than others, but they definitely all do it!

I always think I act like a teenager, until I encounter an actual teenager. Then... no, no, I'm not that at all...

I'd like to think I'm mentally stably mature. But I think I probably come off younger than my age in my demeanor, because I'm pretty shy.
