I has question for Yan about dis! Do you know
why it's like this? I can't remember when it happened (I don't do much trading between my random acts of madness when I have to send trades to nearly evryong><) but it was a
long time ago, wasn't it. Could it be vD update related?

Connielass: Leapfrogging notices aren't a new thing, I'm not going to go as far as saying they've always been like that, but it's been this way for a very long time.
Okay, you guys ready for some dull information?
There's 3 setting for notices: Active, persistent and dismissible.
People who actually log out will see all notices set to just
active when they first log in; like the one about the death of Kambi (I think it's about time that was removed and a FAQs entry made asout SMS donations instead) and any others that are relevant at the moment (also ones that have been forgotten about

) Those only display on the first pge you see, once you navigate to another one they're gone.
Notice leapfrogging happens when 2 active ones are set to persistent and dismissible. I do think this is likely to be a bug, but one in the vBulletin software, not something Menecentric that Yan can fix. Our vB version is an old one you see; for us to run on an up-to-date version would...I don't want to even think about it.
Okay, let's take a short sideways trip to a Menewsha in an alternate universe. On this Mene there's a userbase with more people with expendable income and Mene has turned a nice profit over the years. Because of that we're been a viable option for new features and updates etc...
Every new (and existing) feature is coded to fit the site's current software, yes? So, every time vB updates the software, every feature's code needs modifying to work with the update. We have a lot of add-ons and modifications to the basic software, a
lot. The avatars, the marketplace, the games. 6 words that cover an
enormous amount of code. So a mass of work
every time the parent software gets updated, a mass that just gets bigger and bigger every time a new feature is implimented.
Of course, in this magical alternate universe Mene would run on its own custom built software so this wouldn't be a problem, because this was always Inso's intention you know. But things haven't turned out that way, have they. These are the curveballs that life throws at us!
BUT, if we can manage to turn our slow decline around, build on what we have, and start to grow and turn a profit...who knows what might happen.\o/
A whole lot of new code for Yan to bork!

Isn't that a worthwhile thing to work towards?

I seemed to have rambled entirely away from the initial point here. Oh well, nothing new there.
