"I'm not much of an adventurer," Jefferson admitted. "I've got certain skills I put to use to keep food on the table and a roof over our heads, that's all. If we'd had the stability before, I doubt we would have traveled at all."

Mai shrugged. "You have the stability now," she pointed out. "And you are enjoying this."

"I wouldn't call Storybrooke 'stable' right now," Jefferson said. "Maybe once this whole situation is over."

"Maybe," Mai agreed. "Well, go on, we may as well head back now." She motioned to him to proceed.

Jefferson nodded and gently placed the hat on the ground again. When it didn't immediately begin to spin, he frowned. He nudged it a bit, trying to get the portal to start, but the hat just sat there on the ground.

"That's not good," he murmured, picking the hat up again and examining it.

"Uh oh." Mai looked at him. "Let me guess. We're not going back just yet."

"Something's not right," Jefferson said as he gently ran his fingers over the hat. "It... feels run down." He'd felt his hats like this before, certainly, but usually after a long string of jumps. Never after just one. "I think it just needs some time to recharge. But in the meantime, it looks like we're staying here."

"Lovely," Mai deadpanned. "Well, I guess I get to go exploring sooner than I thought." She grinned anyway. "Which direction?"

Jefferson raised an eyebrow.

"You want to go wandering in Wonderland?" he asked.

"You said I could come back and wander after this was figured out, but we've got time now," Mai pointed out. "Besides, you said you knew what to watch out for here."

"That doesn't mean that Wonderland is a good place to wander around in," Jefferson pointed out. He considered it for a moment. "I suppose we could walk around for a bit, though. As long as we don't linger anywhere for too long."

"Sounds good to me," Mai said with a grin and a shrug, starting to walk. "Might as well see what I can see while we're stuck here."

"Alright," Jefferson said. He tucked the hat under one arm and walked with her.

Mai stayed quiet as they walked for the first few minutes, looking around and trying to see a little of everything.

"So how many places did you end up going to?"

"Where, in Wonderland?" Jefferson asked. "Most of them, why? Was there somewhere in particular you wanted to go? Or you mean elsewhere?"

"I mean realms in general. I don't know enough about Wonderland to want to go to a particular place." Mai shrugged.

"Several," Jefferson replied. He grinned a bit. "You've seen the special hats in my collection. Most of them go somewhere."

"Yeah, but you also said you had had more, before the curse," Mai said, looking over at him. "I guess I'm just curious."

"I did," Jefferson admitted. "There were a few that I lost to the curse. Atlantis, that was one that will be difficult to replace. Tortuga, though that one is much easier to access, once I get the chance."

Mai stopped and stared at him for a few moments before she started laughing.

"Atlantis?" she gasped. "You had a hat to Atlantis?"

Jefferson blinked.

"I used to," he said. He grinned. "It was a favorite of mine, I hardly ever got to use it."

"Okay that is fantastic, you need to figure out how to get back there," Mai said with a grin. "Because I need to see this. This needs to happen."

Jefferson laughed a bit.

"Once everything is settled, I'll see what I can do," he said.

Mai grinned. "Excellent, thank you," she said, pleased.

"My pleasure," Jefferson said, giving her a bit of a theatrical bow. He couldn't help that bit of drama.
