Charles nodded slowly, sort of regretting he had asked, but to be honest Emily didn’t seem too bothered by his question. Despite her somewhat meek personality, she seemed strong inside. “Her name was Raven,” he said after a moment, “We grew up together. She was like a sister to me,” he said softly. It would be difficult for her to really understand his loss if she had never lost anyone herself but it didn’t really matter he supposed. It was better that she hadn’t been hurt that way at least, given the other ways that she had suffered.

Vivifiend:

After all Emily had been threw...she had to be inside. Unless she would have been dead a long time ago. Emily listens to him intently her arms still around him. She stares up at him intently, "I am sorry. What actually happened to her?" Did she die? She has seen some die in her life..none mattered to her. She wondered if him talking this out would make him feel better or worse.

Charles laughed, “No, she didn’t die. She has…different ideas about how mutants should use their powers,” he said hesitantly, unsure if she would understand or not. “I think that mutants, people like us, and normal people should live peacefully together but Erik…and Raven…think that mutants are better than everyone else. That they should rule the world.” It was sort of simplifying the matter but he wasn’t sure she would understand every other way. “What’s important really, it to just be yourself and treat others with kindness,” he finished, hoping that if she understood nothing else that she would get that.

Vivifiend:

Emily listens to him intently and sighs inwardly. How do you be kind to those who hurt you so much? Who left you to die in a cage with no food, water ect? She looks away from him lost in her own thoughts for what seemed like forever. Before she looks back up at him, "I.......I don't want to be like them...but I cannot forgive what they have done to me." She shakes her head sadly, "I can be peaceful..but I wont help them........."

Charles could see Emily struggling with what he had said. It was true that she had suffered but surely she would understand the need not to cause suffering for others? When she spoke up again, he was a bit disappointed by the vehemence behind her words. Only eight years old and already she was holding a lifelong grudge. If she focused on this negativity for the rest of her life it would hamper her growth as a person. He hoped that he and the other X-Men would be able to show her that there was a different way to live.

Vivifiend:

Emily looks sad, "I am sorry." She lays her head back down and stays quite after. She could feel his disappointment. How could he understand? Or make him understand....She keeps herself against him fighting off some sleep that wanted to take her now.

“Tomorrow is a new day,” Charles said small smile though he wasn’t sure she would be able to see it in the dark. “I will be going out with Erik again tomorrow,” he said, “There is someone else I am hoping to help. Hank will show you around while I am away.” Noticing that she was falling asleep, Charles sat up. “Perhaps we should get you back to bed?” he asked, not wanting to wake up to the surprise of having a small child in his bed the next morning.

Vivifiend:

Emily nods and yawns deeply still cuddled against him. She stretches a bit and forced her eyes open slightly, "Alright...but I don't trust your friend...something is off about him...." She reopens her eyes to focus up on him, "You alright now?" She sounded tired but still worried. "I know you where upset....i can feel it..."She chews her lip softly, "I will not leave you...I promise."

Charles smiled slightly. Emily was probably closer to the truth about Erik than she imagined. He knew he shouldn’t trust Erik but he really wanted to give him this second chance and an opportunity to coincide despite their clashing world views. “Don’t worry about me,” Charles said, “I’ll be fine. I appreciate your promise. I hope you will like it here.” Getting out of bed, Charles takes Emily’s hand and leads her back to her room through the darkened hallways. He can clearly see which door is hers from the soft light glowing under the crack of her door from the night light. Opening the door he leads her back to her bed and tucks her in once more.

Vivifiend:

Emily said no more on the topic of Erik right now. But she could feel he was bad news...she would avoid him at all cost thats for sure. She looks up at him and gives him one last squeeze before letting go of him letting him get up. Before she slides off his bed curling her fingers around his, "If you say so than. I am sure I will." She nods and looks up at him, "Trust me anything is better..." She fallows next to him to her room. Allowing herself to be put back into bed once more.

Charkes tucked Emily back into bed and wished her goodnight before returning to his own room. Laying back down in his own bed, Charles eventually grew tired enough to fall asleep and for the first time in a long time he slept the whole night through.

((Not sure if you were planning on having Emily wake up early or sleep in late so I'm going to leave it at that for now. I was planing on having Charles sleep late.))

Emily was soon asleep after wishing him a goodnight as well. She snuggles down into the bed once more and drifts off soon after. Thankfully her dreams are blank and no nightmares. She was glad for that....very glad indeed. It felt oddly wonderful to her to be on a big, fluffy, comfy bed for once too. It didn't take much to lease that little girl thats for sure.

Hank gets up first thing in the AM and starts making food for the mutants who lived under that roof. Lost in his own thoughts on everything....Erik, Charles...Emily, the school, ect. He sighs and pops on pancakes in a frying pan and starts making some coffee.

The late light of morning filtering through the curtains and the chirping of birds greeted Charles as he awoke leaving him momentarily disoriented. What time was it? Rolling over, Charles blearily eyed the clock to see it nearing 10:30. Laying his head back against the pillow, Charles was amazed that he had actually gotten a good night’s sleep. It had been the first in quite a long time. Finally getting up, Charles dresses in a sweater and a pair of slacks before heading down to the kitchen to find something to eat.

Vivifiend:

Hank looks up from the frying pan being the only one up at the moment besides Charles now too apparently, "Morning Professor. You get first dibs on the pancakes than and the eggs. Sleep alright?" He did look well rested for once. That was a first too. He arches an eyebrow and smiles, "You look well rested this morning. Guessing you got a good nights sleep than?"

Hank was busy making breakfast when he arrived. “Pancakes? What's the occasion?” Charles asked as he poured himself a cup of coffee. “I did sleep quite well actually,” he commented as he sat down at the table and unrolled the newspaper that Hank had left there. Taking a sip of his coffee, he skimmed over the headlines.

Vivifiend:

Hank nods, "Good I am glad you did." He was glad indeed and moves to flip the next set of pancakes over seeing they where ready to be. He also mixes the eggs up and even slaps some bacon on. "Well, we do have a new student. So I figured why not?" He looks over at him and smiles. Was a cause for some good food no?

“Speaking of which, have you seen Emily this morning?” Charles asked, taking another sip of his coffee. “I hope she slept well.” Charles watches Hank cook. The smell was wonderful, just what he needed to start a new day. “With any luck we’ll have another new student this evening…” Charles didn’t want to seem confident but between himself and Erik he figured they could mange. Flipping through the paper, he takes in the state of local and world affairs, stock market prices, and the weather.

Hank looks over and shakes his head, "No, not yet. She is probably still asleep. Though surprised she isn't tagging along with you." He didn't mean it in a bad way. He looks back to the food he was making, "I can go and check on her in a moment if you want." He looks back over and nods, "I do hope so Professor." Course poor Hank didn't think that because Erik was there...

Searching out Emily’s mind, Charles realized that Hank was right. Waving his hand dismissively he said, “Don’t bother. Let her sleep.” She could use a bit of extra rest after everything that had happened the previous day and the pair of them had stayed up late talking the previous night. That and Hank was preparing breakfast for a small army so there would surely be some leftovers for her to eat whenever she awoke. “What about you, Hank?” Charles asked, worried that perhaps the other mutant was overdoing it himself. He had surely stayed up later than them yesterday and was up early before them. Cooking and cleaning and puttering around in the lab to make his treatment, it could really wear him out. Then again he did have the stamina of a gorilla so perhaps not.

Vivifiend:

Emily feels him brush her mind and ungracefully does the same back. More or less she was fine and she would be up in a little bit. She rolls over still asleep for the moment needing that extra lil bit. But, she was smelling food now so she was starting to wake up now hungry as her stomach growls. All the crackers had been eaten threw the night slowly and the water drank too.

Hank looks over, "Oh, right. Fine." He nods and works on the breakfast still. He didn't get to much sleep that night but it didn't matter right?

Charles wasn’t convinced by Hank’s answer. “Just make sure you don’t overdo it…” he chided. Hank was the type of person to take on responsibilities that weren’t necessarily his. It was true though that Banshee and Havok weren’t the most responsible of individuals. Banshee was simply too immature and Havok, well he just didn’t give a shit. Speaking of which, he wondered if they would be coming down for breakfast. He doubted it though; they tended to do things on their own. For a moment he felt a bit guilty for letting things become the way they were. He should have been there for them when things fell apart but he had selfishly let himself fall into the black hole of despair. Still, getting cerebro running was an important step in the right direction. Once they had a good number of students and another teacher or two, it would be easier to get everyone together and organize classes.

Vivifiend:

Hank shrugs, "I will be alright Professor." He was honestly more worried about Charles than himself. Why did he have a sinky feeling things would get worse before they got better? Something bad was coming and he couldn't put his finger on it on what and when it would happen. He had made extra food if those two where going to eat. If so they are for two people at times. He moves and offers Charles some eggs, bacon and more pancakes if he wanted them. Sitting for a second to eat some himself.

Erik was currently up and taking yet another show still feeling a bit gross after the last adventure. He would soon be down afterwards. Emily was now up and headed down not needing directions just fallowing the smell of food. It didn't take long for her to appear in the kitchen.

Charles simply shrugs, “Well if you ever need anything, you know where to find me.” His mouth waters as Hank sets the food out on the table. Folding up the newspaper, he places it off to the side. Pulling an empty plate towards him, he stacks on a couple of pancakes, a few slices of bacon, and an egg. Buttering his pancake, he waits for Hank to sit down before taking a bite. “Mmm, this is excellent Hank,” he says appreciatively. The sandwich he had eaten last night was nothing in comparison to Hank’s hot homemade breakfast. Washing the pancake down with a swig of coffee, he looks up as Emily enters the room. “Good morning,” he says, “How did you sleep?” he asks. Motioning to an empty chair, he pushes an empty plate towards her and gets up to pour her a glass of orange juice before sitting back down. “Help yourself,” he says, indicating the platters of bacon, eggs, and pancakes.

Vivifiend:

Hank nods, "I always do Professor. I am always busy but its a good thing." He munches on his food and smiles, 'Thank you and I am glad you like it." He munches his meal happily and looks up seeing Emily coming in. He was about to get up but Charles already beat him to it. So he relaxes and finishes his meal slowly. Anything else being made would be fine for the moment. "Morning.", he nods to the little girl.

"Morning.", Emily nods at them both. She looks at Charles and bobs her head, "Yes, did you?" Though she didn't fee as he was upset again that night? Unless she missed it that is. She thanks him and takes the seat offered to her. Being a bit short she looked a bit silly. However, she happily takes some offered food and thanks him again for the offered juice.

“Yes, I did,” Charles responded to her question before taking another bite of his pancake. He could sense Erik up and about now and wondered if he would come down for breakfast. No doubt his hunger would get the best of him. For the moment though it was just the three of them. Noticing that Emily was still wearing the tee shirt from the night before he turns to Hank, “Were you planning on taking Emily shopping today? Or should I bring something back later?” he asked. Unfortunately he didn’t have the time to go to town before he and Erik left. He wanted to check that mutant’s location on cerebro once more before they left.
