Hi, Menewsha! Do you consider yourself an introvert, ambivert, or extrovert? :) Discuss!

UPDATE 1/3/15 - Several people have brought up the question of "what exactly is an ambivert?"

I can be outgoing and sometimes I crave human interaction, but most of the time I'd rather be by myself. And as far as human interaction, I hate small talk. Quickest way to shut me off to the world.

I'm an extrovert when I'm with people I know, otherwise, I'll shut up.

I consider myself to be an introvert.
i don't really like to be around people. Or many people. Especially people
I barely talk to, aren't close to or people who just aren't interested in the things I am interested.

However, I am okay with small groups of people.
Especially if they are people I am comfortable with like my mom, dad and sister.

But with others I feel extremely uncomfortable.
especially in large groups.

And socializing. Don't even get me started.
I hate it really. Or I just do not like to do it often.
it tends to knock me off my feet and makes me feel drained after socializing. Dx

I rather stay at home and watch anime or work on my fanfic or art
instead of going out to places.

I'm not sure, it clearly depends of my mood, sometime I want to talk, I don't care of what and with who, and sometimes I don't want to see anybody, not event my children, nor my man. Does it sounds weird ? I'm always wondering if I'm normal, don't you ? xD

ambivert? maybe more introverted than extroverted

I like to be left alone in my home, and not bothered. (I wish I didn't have roommates 50% of the time T_T) Though, I don't mind sharing that time with my boyfriend.

Out in the world, I don't care to be approached but I dont want to be stared at or looked at as the center of attention. Sometimes I can be more outgoing with new people but other times I can be really timid and shy. It depends if I get a good vibe from them. I also hold weird conversations...so that's that also, I don't feel uncomfortable with large amounts of people, rather the opposite. It's easier to blend in that way and not be noticed.

Ambivert sounds really cool, I've never heard of that before. I would usually say I am an introvert but maybe that is too restrictive.

Oh yeah, definitely in introvert. I love my alone time to the point my family has learned to not mess with me during the day. I'm not cranky I just can't seem to relate and they just don't understand so I shut myself in an environment that does.

I prefer a close knit group of friends but I don't mind having a bunch (that I actually talk to). It's just really hard in real life to find people in your region who are into the same things as you. I have only one friend where I'm at that's into anime and she doesn't even like a lot of anime, maybe at least three.

I'm weird I'm awkward and I hate having attention to myself to the point that when I do go out in public I'm paranoid, uncomfortable and become physically sick.

I wish I could be an extrovert and be like those cool outgoing, suave talkers but that's just not me. I make things even more awkward when I try to act like something different. You just have to learn to ignore those that give you looks and just do you.

Extrovert, I suppose.
I like to introduce myself to people and get acquainted; it's especially helpful if you're at a function or a party and you don't know anyone (or just the person who brought you).

I'm very much a people person, but I'm also quite the introvert. I'll be great company at a gathering, but boy will I be desperate to go home and put a locked door between myself and everyone else by the end of the night! And I won't want to see a soul for a good long while afterwards either.

I am most definitely an introvert. I have an internal mental breakdown when I am talking to someone and don't know how to carry on conversation very well. Most of my family hides their introvertedness very well (suspected ambiverts?!?) so they don't really try to understand my tendency of reclusiveness.

I love spending time alone with my sketchbook, just drawing whatever comes to my mind, even if it isn't really anything good. I only really talk to the friends that I made in middle school; the high school that I go to now is really big and it scares me sometimes.

It exhausts me when I try to make small talk with other people. For some reason it just doesn't come naturally to me; I would rather talk about some kind of deep-seeded issue in society rather than talking about today's weather or how miserable the last test was. But when I'm with the people that I know the most and feel most comfortable with, I am more open with them :3

Introvert, very much so to the point where I am almost a hermit. If I didn't have the need to eat or work I wouldn't be around people and instead stay at home to hide behind a computer.

i'd never heard of "ambivert" before (not to discredit it, just as a ! hey that's new) so i usually go by introvert. and i'll probably continue to do so just out of sheer laziness.
i like talking to people and hanging out with friends well enough but it physically drains me. i have to take a nap whenever im around others for too long, no matter how much i enjoy myself.

I'm going to say that I'm definitely an extrovert (ENFJ to be precise). I enjoy my quiet time, don't get me wrong, but I have to be able to get out and socialize. If I'm at home for too long, I get a terrible nasty headache that is usually only cured if I leave the house. I know part of it is because I crave sun therapy, but I love even going out when it's raining. For introverts, you all have expressed that it drains you to go out or to be around a lot of people, and I'm the complete opposite. It drains me to sit at home all day or not be around different people, for whatever reason
Now, I still do tend to get shy around certain people, especially those my own age. I'm extremely outgoing if I'm around people older than me, and I think that's because my maturity level is so high, and I'm used to being around "adults"

Hi JChanOfTheCan, great question!

Here is an image that might clarify things. ^_^ Basically, an ambivert has both introverted and extroverted characteristics. You can think of it as a spectrum. Introversion is on one end; extroversion is on the other; ambiversion is in between. Hope you understand my explanation!

I am defiantly an introvert. I don't have a particular aversion to social situations - but they drain me and I defiantly need my alone time to recharge. I find it a common misconception that introverts are shy. I also find it hilarious as I'm a very outgoing person and I do very well in social situations. My preference just lands on alone time, or in an intimate environment with a close-knit group of friends.

I'm probably an extrovert. But a real bastard one.
This question comes up a lot, but I've never honestly considered it.

I never knew what an ambivert was until today - but I think I fall in that category. I always considered myself an introvert even though I can exude extroverted qualities...I identified more as an introvert. But now I know ambivert exists...which, when I looked it up, sounds just like me :P XD
