Kenzie made sure to sneak around putting things away before retreating to her room to continue being quiet and sneaky. She could eat later. She'd gone much, much longer without food before.

Gemma woke up a bit later and noticed that the lights in the apartment had been dimmed and that a blanket had been put over her. She couldn't help but smile a bit at that, and she padded quietly into kitchen to see what Kenzie had brought.

Kenzie had left the baked goods out on the counter, since they'd be fine there, and had restocked the fridge with everything they'd been getting low on. She herself was lounging in her room on the floor, a pile of gold and gems spread out around her.

Gemma grabbed a pastry and padded back towards the bedrooms. She paused when she saw the light from Kenzie's room.

"Felt the need to play with some shinies?" she asked softly, leaning on the doorway a little. She didn't go in without permission.

"Mmm." Kenzie shrugged a little, looking up at her. "It's soothing. It's almost time for me to start snacking on gold again."

"Craving it again so soon?" Gemma asked. That was a bit surprising. "I thought you said it would be a while."

"I thought so," Kenzie agreed. "Perhaps I didn't have enough last time." She shrugged. "I am not concerned, however."

"As long as you don't think it'll be an issue," Gemma said, nodding a bit. She stayed leaning against the doorway, just nibbling a bit at the pastry.

"I doubt it. I've not had cause to use my other form in a while." Kenzie shrugged.

"Which surprises me a bit," Gemma admitted. "You usually jump at any excuse to sprawl out and relax like that."

Kenzie grimaced. "I don't want to go out to the country by myself. And that is the only place I can sprawl." She huffed. "It is difficult sometimes to find the time."

"You should have said something," Gemma replied. "I can close the store for a weekend, you know that."

"I know." Kenzie shrugged. "You like staying in the city. You are never as comfortable in the country."

"I'm fine with taking a weekend if you need to go," Gemma replied. "I can close down the shop for a few days, it's not a big deal. I'd rather you have the time and space you need."

"Soon, then," Kenzie said after a few moments. She had been feeling a bit cramped and itchy recently, but she'd been ignoring it in favor of spending time with her newest acquisition (and he was such fun) and trying to get Gemma to really actually forgive her for her newest acquisition.

Gemma nodded.

"This weekend or next?" she asked. She knew they would have to work around the sudden visit with the Avengers that had gotten planned.

"Not this weekend," Kenzie said. "Perhaps the weekend after." Although even then she wasn't sure yet. She'd have to wait a little longer to see how things were going. "I will tell you as soon as I know which weekend will work best."

"Alright," Gemma said. She got the feeling that she knew why Kenzie was putting it off. She'd never put it off like that before when it was just the two of them.

"Have you eaten anything besides the pastry?" Kenzie sounded amused, picking up one of the gold coins on the floor and twirling it between her fingers.

"Not really," Gemma admitted. "I'm fine."

Kenzie snorted quietly but didn't argue.

"The others should still be good enough for breakfast," she said. "So you're set for the morning, at least."

Gemma nodded.

"Thanks," she said. She looked at Kenzie for a moment. "Are you alright?"

"Me?" Kenzie blinked. "I am fine. No need to worry." She shrugged.

"I know you better than that," Gemma said. She hesitated just slightly, then stepped into the room. She sat down next to Kenzie. "What's wrong?"

Kenzie sighed. "You still do not like Bucky," she murmured, though she didn't look at Gemma. Instead, she played with a large topaz, passing it between her hands.
