Gemma sighed a bit. She'd known this was coming, and had hoped to put it off a while longer. She looked down at her lap.

"He's stealing you from me," she finally said.

Kenzie blinked. "He is?" Clearly she hadn't thought of it that way before.

"What else would you call it?" Gemma asked. "You dote on him constantly now, and I get left behind."

"I do not." Kenzie frowned. "I spend more time here with you than I do with him, by far. He is not here every day, and on the days I do see him, we spend no more than five or six hours together. I still do all the things I normally do for you." Actually, more, because Kenzie knew that Gemma was still upset over this whole thing.

Gemma didn't immediately reply. She knew it was unreasonable, but she couldn't help feeling the way she did.

"Until now, I was enough," she finally mumbled.

Kenzie sighed. "Gemma, it was never a question of who has been enough," she said quietly. "It is rare for me to only have one companion. I have had as many as fourteen, once. I value each of my companions as much as the others." She shrugged eloquently. "But sometimes someone calls to me."

"You were content enough with just me before," Gemma pointed out.

"I had not heard the calling for a while," Kenzie said with a shrug. "It is nothing against you, Gemma. It is just my nature."

Gemma didn't reply. There really wasn't anything else she could say to that, even though it wasn't very comforting.

Kenzie sighed. "You know I do not want you upset," she said. "But I also cannot ignore him."

Gemma just looked down, fiddling a bit with the hem of her shirt.

"Maybe I shouldn't go with you, then," she said finally.

Kenzie frowned. "I never said I would ignore you," she said quietly. "I want you to come with me. You are still mine, and you were mine first."

"I'll just get in the way," Gemma replied. "Especially if you're going to be distracted with him and them."

"You are never in the way. You are mine." Kenzie huffed a bit. "If you do not wish to go, I understand. However, if you merely do not wish to attend because of my bond with him, I will ask you to reconsider."

Gemma sighed quietly. She wasn't sure what she wanted to do anymore.

"I don't know," she murmured. "We'll see."

"Indeed." Kenzie settled down again. "What do you wish to do for the remainder of the evening?"

"Just settle, I think," Gemma replied quietly. "A quiet night sounds good."

"Alright. I can clear up things in here, or we can move into the living room and watch something." Kenzie shrugged, leaving it up to her.

"We can move into the living room if you want," Gemma replied, looking at her. She was aware she was sort of invading Kenzie's space, and she was alright with moving back out into the living room.

"It is entirely up to you." Kenzie shrugged lazily. "If we stay in here, I just have to move a few things. You would not enjoy laying on gold and gems as I sometimes do."

"No, those would probably leave bruises on me," Gemma said. She couldn't help but smile just slightly.

Kenzie chuckled at that and got all of her shinies gathered up in one spot. "There. No hard things to bruise you," she teased.

"Good," Gemma said. She went and settled on the edge of Kenzie's pillow nest, curling up with a cushion or two.

Kenzie hummed contentedly at that and settled in, relaxing. Things were better now. Not quite right, but better.

Gemma slowly relaxed there. The quiet and the company were nice, and it felt good to have Kenzie all to herself, at least for a little while.
