"I like heading out to the country," Gemma replied. "It's nice. I mean, I lose out on a weekend of sales, but that's alright."

Steve nodded. "You seem to do alright," he said. "With the shop, I mean." He hefted things into the back of an SUV, taking her bag for her and setting it in with the rest.

"Yeah," Gemma said as she handed him her bag. "I do well enough. I own the store, so it's not like I pay rent on it or anything. I just pay for the utilities and most of my stock, and even then, my markup isn't all that high compared to a lot of others I've seen."

Steve nodded. "Right. At least you don't have to listen to anyone else." He grinned. "Taking orders doesn't seem like your thing."

Gemma shrugged a bit, though she grinned and turned a little pink.

"I guess I'm just used to being independent," she replied. "And, I mean, my training was pretty light-handed, since I don't have a whole lot of raw power, so I'm just used to being allowed to do as I please."

Steve chuckled. "Whatever works for you," he said, grinning at her. He did glance over at the elevators when the rest of the team and Kenzie arrived, though.

Kenzie looked at them for a moment before she went to go check on all of her people one more time, touching each person briefly. With Bucky, she touched his shoulder, Clint his head, Tony his chest to the side of the reactor. And Gemma of course she just kind of flopped over with a little huff of impatience.

Gemma grinned when she noticed the others all leaning into the touches.

"Come on," she said, "let's go so we can get there before evening."

Everyone piled into cars, and Kenzie herded Bucky into the same car as Steve and Gemma, because to fit everyone they needed two cars. She gave a satisfied little huff when Clint volunteered to drive that car, rather pleased.

Steve just chuckled and glanced at Bucky to make sure he was okay.

Bucky settled in near the window, wedged into the corner. He was alright for now, as long as the drive wasn't too long. He would have preferred the jet.

"We good to go?" Clint asked, looking at the others.

"We're good," Steve agreed. "Let's see if we can beat Natasha's car there." He grinned a bit, knowing Clint would like the challenge.

Kenzie just hummed her satisfaction and settled back in her seat. The drive wouldn't take too long, fortunately, because her skin was starting to itch with the urge to change.

Clint smirked and threw the car into gear as soon as everyone was in. He could definitely beat Natasha's car there.

Bucky held onto the seat for a few moments when the car suddenly lurched forward, but he relaxed after a couple of minutes.

"Just like that first time we needed a getaway car, way back," he muttered to Steve.

Steve grinned at that. "Yeah, but prettier company," he murmured, too low for the girls to hear. Or so he thought. From the way Kenzie's eyes laughed at him, he figured he failed.

Bucky couldn't stifle a snort at that.

"Dum-Dum would be crushed to hear that," he murmured back, grinning a bit.

"He would be," Steve agreed mildly. "But then I'd buy him another beer and he'd forgive me."

Bucky raised an eyebrow.

"You know you'd get him a whiskey instead," he pointed out.

"Depends what the rest of the day was like," Steve said with a shrug. "He did drink more than anyone else, though."

Bucky snorted.

"No kidding," he replied. "Though you coulda drunk everyone under the table if you felt like."

Gemma just glanced at Kenzie. She heard so very many stories there, and she wasn't sure how to ask about them.

Kenzie caught the glance and smiled. "I hear a story there," she said, shifting just enough to lean slightly on Bucky's side. "A vey interesting one, I would guess."

Steve snorted at that. "It's not that interesting," he said.

"It sounds super interesting," Gemma replied, grinning a bit.

Bucky moved just slightly, letting Kenzie lean against him.

"The guys-- the Commandos-- they used to try to get Steve into drinking contests," he said.

Kenzie grinned, settling in against Bucky. "I take it that didn't end well for them?"

"Nope," Steve said with a little smirk. "I can't get drunk."

That made Gemma pause.

"Really?" she asked, looking at him. "I didn't know that." She tilted her head a little and squinted a bit. "And you haven't, you know, asked your resident alien god for some of his alien booze or something? Thor's got to have something, right?"

"He's offered once or twice, but I haven't really had more than a few sips yet. We keep getting interrupted when we try drinking." Steve looked a little sheepish.

"Then we just need to find a time when everyone can just settle in and relax," Gemma said. She grinned. "Then you can try to get buzzed."

"We'll see," Steve said, grinning a bit and shaking his head. Because he still kind of doubted he'd be able to get drunk, but knowing Thor, he'd be up for the challenge.

Gemma just grinned and settled in for the rest of the ride.

When they got to where they needed to be, she got out of the car and stretched a bit. They seemed to be in the middle of nowhere, but she knew where they were, and she knew Kenzie did as well.
