"Another dragon?" Gemma asked, surprised. "How did he even find you? I thought you said there wasn't another one for practically half the continent." She tilted her head a bit. "What did he want?"

"He wants offspring, as all males do." Kenzie rolled her eyes. "He's just visiting, he won't be here for very long."

Gemma nearly choked on her tea.

"Wait, what?" she asked, once she was sure tea wasn't going to come out of her nose.

"He wants an offspring," Kenzie said. "That's all males want, really, that's pretty much the only reason they come find us females. I told him I'd think about it. At least this one was better than the last one."

"The last one?" Gemma repeated, setting her tea down. "Wait a second, since when is this even a thing?"

"For several hundred years?" Kenzie blinked, tilting her head to the side. "I've had many approach me over the years, of course, because females are rare. I suppose the last one was before you joined me."

"They approached you and, what, you just... had a kid for them?" Gemma asked, picking up her tea again. "That sounds really, really weird, you know that?"

"I do know. And no, I didn't have a kid for all of them, just one." Kenzie paused for a moment. "Besides, it was still an egg when I handed him over to his father to take care of."

"Him?" Gemma asked, curious now. "How did you know it was male, if it was still an egg?"

"He's been back to visit me twice," Kenzie said with a little smile. "He's growing well, at least."

"Well, that's good," Gemma said, grinning a bit. She settled back in her seat. "So what do you think of this new guy, then?"

"So far, he's acceptable," Kenzie said with a little shrug. "He's not exceptional, but he is good looking. He doesn't mind humans, which is a dramatic improvement over the last two." She shrugged again.

"Well, let me know if there's anything you want me to do," Gemma said, sipping her tea. Now that the initial surprise was over, she was just filing it all away under 'weird dragon stuff' in her head.

"If I agree, you will likely need to tell the others if they come asking," Kenzie said with a little shrug. "It is not a long process, not really, but long enough that I don't doubt someone will come looking."

"I can cover for you," Gemma said, nodding. "That's not a problem."

"Thank you." Kenzie smiled. "Until I make my decision, I don't think there's anything I need in particular."

"Just let me know," Gemma said. She sipped her tea again and sighed happily. She was quiet for a moment. "So... I had a lot of fun when we went out to the country."

"I could tell." Kenzie smiled. "I am glad. I had worried some that you would not be relaxed around the group of them."

"I didn't expect to have as much fun as I did," Gemma admitted. She turned a bit pink when she thought about how much time she spent with Steve.

"Hmm." Kenzie smiled, but she didn't pry. Mostly because she had eyes and she knew Gemma well, by this point. She didn't need to pry to know that there was something possible between Gemma and Steve.

"Are you going to be spending a lot of time with them?" Gemma asked after a moment. "Because I need to keep up with the shop, so I can't."

"I know." Kenzie was quiet a moment. "I do not know yet. I've talked with some of them individually since, but that's all." And so far she wasn't feeling neglected and pouty. Yet.

"So go visit them," Gemma said, looking at her. "What's stopping you?"

"I figured they might want some space after the weekend," Kenzie said with a shrug. "Especially Tony, he was going to run some tests."

"Well, I have to look after the shop, or I'd go and check in with them for you," Gemma said. Although, to be fair, she was already seriously considering hiring some help for the shop, since it looked like she was going to be away from it more and more.
