"I'm not concerned," Kenzie said with a little shrug. "I can give them some time." For now, at least, she just settled in with Gemma.

"Uh huh," Gemma said, grinning. "I'll give it a week, tops, and you'll be pacing the apartment again."

"If no one comes by," Kenzie allowed. "That could happen." And she wasn't too scared of them deciding dragons were no longer awesome.

"Barnes might show up," Gemma said, thinking about it for a moment. "But the others can be hit or miss, I think."

"I think Barnes will," Kenzie said after a moment. "So far, he still seems to be the most attached." Which she was perfectly fine with.

"I stocked the back pantry with coffee," Gemma commented as she put her purse over her shoulder and started to walk back towards the shop. "So you don't have to go all the way upstairs for it if he shows up and wants some."

"You didn't have to do that," Kenzie said, though she was smiling. "But since it is there, I may make use of it."

"I thought so," Gemma said, grinning. She stretched a little. "So I'm going to get back to the shop and actually open it, since I really can't stay closed any longer, and you can go do whatever you like."

Kenzie snorted but wandered after her. She didn't have anything else to do right now, after all.

Gemma sighed happily as she unlocked the shop and went inside. She'd missed her shop, and it felt good to be back in and running it. She turned up the main lights a little and flicked a little bit of magic towards some of the large crystals in the corners, making them glow.

Kenzie smiled indulgently and headed back to her little area to go play with some crystals and gemstones for a while.

A few days later, Dante meandered his way through the area again. He wasn't looking for Kenzie, per se, but he was sure he'd come across her at some point, and he was curious as to whether or not she'd made up her mind yet.

Kenzie was sitting downstairs in the shop with Gemma. She had made up her mind about Dante, and she was content with her decision. It would mean being away for a little while, but she'd already warned Gemma.

Dante walked into the shop, glancing around. It was a quaint little place, clearly the human who ran it had some meager skill. He could smell Kenzie all over it, however, and that was what made him go inside further.

Kenzie watched him from her spot at the back of the shop, letting him approach her. She wasn't going to just volunteer the information, after all, not when she could wait for him to ask.

Dante ignored Gemma completely, walking further back until he found Kenzie. He studied her for a moment.

"Have you come to a decision?" he asked her. "Or do you require more time?"

"I have made my decision." Kenzie had already informed Gemma, so she was prepared, at least. "I already have a territory, not too far from here, that is secluded and safe enough to make an egg."

Dante blinked once. It was unusual for a female to have a territory ready at hand.

"I'm honored you have decided to do me this favor," he said, giving her a brief smile.

"You seem pleasant enough." Kenzie smirked. "I do hope you will raise the little one to not eat humans, however. I'm rather fond of some of them."

Dante nodded.

"Of course," he said. "Eating humans is more trouble than it's worth, in the long run, and to be honest I find the taste unappealing."

"Good." Kenzie stood and motioned for him to wait. She moved over to Gemma instead.

"You'll be fine while I'm gone?" she asked, keeping her voice low.

Gemma nodded.

"I'll be fine," she said. She grinned a bit. "I was fine before you showed up, right? I'll be fine without you again for a little while."

Kenzie huffed but nodded. "I shouldn't be more than a few weeks," she said. "You know where I'll be, in case anything happens." Well. Gemma knew the area, anyway, and Kenzie would find her as soon as she was in her territory.

"Everything will be fine," Gemma said, smiling a bit. "Go on, have fun."

Kenzie smiled a little but beckoned to Dante before she headed out of the shop. She led him out of the city and well away from people before changing forms and heading back to her territory.
