"Things here have been normal?" Kenzie migrated over to the couch, ignoring Steve's knowing smirk. Steve, at least, was keeping out of the way, staying in his chair and half-watching the news.

"I guess," Bucky replied, following her to the couch. "Nothing really wrong."

Kenzie snorted quietly. "Not wrong is different from okay or normal," she pointed out, eyeing him again. She was trying to decide if he'd just had a hard time or if things had actually happened.

Bucky shrugged again. He still wasn't all that great at gauging what was or wasn't normal, not quite yet. So far, the best he could do was 'not wrong.'

Kenzie let out a little huff and settled in a little closer to him. If he wasn't okay just then, she'd just have to make sure he was okay. After all, so far she planned on being around for a while.

Bucky couldn't help but relax a little more as she settled closer to him. The world felt a bit more right, now that she was back.

Kenzie smiled at that and reached over, slowly, giving him time to move or tell her to stop if he wanted, and ran her fingers through his hair.

Bucky unconsciously leaned closer to her, into the contact. It felt surprisingly good, and his eyes slipped closed.

Kenzie spent a few moments gently combing out his hair. At least until Steve turned up the volume on the TV, listening to the reporter saying something about dragons. Kenzie went absolutely still.

Bucky noticed how still she went, and opened his eyes.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

Kenzie still hadn't moved, but her attention had shifted entirely to the news cast.

"Scientists have recently found proof that there were dinosaurs that resemble dragons more than anything," the reporter said. "And there is an anonymous source who found evidence in the SHIELD-Hydra information dump about dragons. Real dragons in modern times. I know, it sounds like something out of a fairy tale, but the source has written and photographic evidence." The screen switched over to one of the pictures the source had sent in, which was a picture of Kenzie as a dragon, but almost a hundred years previous. The picture was grainy, and the focus wasn't perfect, but it was obviously a picture of a dragon, and anyone who knew Kenzie would recognize her.

Bucky went absolutely still, his expression briefly furious before dissolving into the cold blank mask of the Winter Soldier. Something was threatening something he had come to appreciate, and he would end the threat if the opportunity arose.

For once, Kenzie didn't notice. She wasn't concerned about his state of mind right then. She was too busy panicking.

"I have to go," she said, pulling away from him. She was up and at the elevators before even Steve could even think of going after her.

Bucky was too busy trying to get control of himself again to go after her. By the time he had broken back out of the Winter Soldier mentality, Kenzie was already gone.

"What happened?" he asked Steve, voice still rough.

"I don't know." Steve still looked a little bewildered. "Kenzie just left. She didn't say where she was going. She looked kind of spooked, actually."

"What happened?" Bucky asked again, stressing it this time. "What made her leave?" Because he knew something did. She wouldn't have left otherwise.

"News report," Steve said, rewinding the TV to show him. "Something about proof of dragons being real. There was a picture too." He paused the feed to let Bucky look.

Just seeing the picture threatened to make Bucky dissolve again into the Winter Soldier.

"That's her," he managed to grind out. "Picture. Kenzie."

Steve swore quietly. "Damn," he muttered, turning off the TV. "Hang on, Buck. Let me check and see if she went back to Gemma."

Something happened, Kenzie was on TV as a dragon, old picture, and she ran out of here. Has she contacted you?

Bucky didn't respond, instead working on getting himself back under control.

Gemma had to finish up the appointment she was with before she could check her phone. As soon as she saw the message, though, she called Steve immediately.

"What happened?" she asked. "What do you mean there was a picture of Kenzie as a dragon on TV?"

"There was a news report, something about someone who had proof that dragons existed. They were going through the news report and there was an old picture they showed, from the nineteen-teens, of Kenzie as a dragon. I didn't realize at first, but Bucky did." Steve shrugged a little, keeping half his attention on Bucky.

Gemma bit her lip. A photo that old could very well have been Kenzie.

"Where is Kenzie now?" she asked. "I assume you have Barnes there with you, so where's Kenzie?"

"Ran off. Literally ran, before Buck or I could grab her," Steve said. "I was hoping she'd head back your way, or at least let you know where she's going."

"If she's coming back this way, she'll be here soon. I'll stay in the shop, in case she comes back, and I'll call if she does." Gemma went quiet for a moment. "I don't know where else she would go, especially if she's as spooked as you say she was."

"I don't know either." Steve sounded worried. "Let me know if you see or hear from her, okay? I'll do the same."
