Bucky blinked. He knew Steve sometimes nudged him in the appropriate direction, sometimes even literally, but this nudge he had no context for.

"What?" he murmured.

"You wanted to get to know her," Steve muttered. "Ask her to coffee or somethin'."

"Can't be that easy," Bucky muttered back. Hell, that barely worked with regular dames, how would it ever work with a dragon?

"Try it, won't know until you ask," Steve said with a bit of a grin. "Try it Buck."

Bucky gave Steve an uneasy look. Fighting Nazis was infinitely easier than this shit and nobody would tell him otherwise. Finally, he gathered himself up enough and looked over at Kenzie.

"Coffee?" he asked, a bit cautious.

Kenzie smiled at the invitation. "Alright," she agreed. She glanced back at Gemma. "You sure you'll be fine?"

"We're not that bad company," Sam joked.

"I'm sure," Gemma said. She waved a hand again. "Go on. I'll be fine, I promise."

"Alright." Kenzie scooped up her bag and turned to Bucky. "Have anywhere in mind?"

Steve grinned as he watched the two.

"There's a decent place around the corner?" Bucky suggested. He opened the door and held it for her.

Kenzie smiled and nodded, walking outside with him. "That sounds fair," she agreed.

"Well, this is going to be interesting," Steve murmured, watching them go.

"He seems like he'll be alright for now," Sam murmured in return, nodding. "Should be fine."

"He's gotten better about calling if he needs help, too," Steve agreed. Then he shook himself a bit and smiled apologetically at Gemma.

"Sorry, we didn't mean to be ignoring you. Normally we have manners."

Gemma grinned.

"I live with a dragon," she pointed out. "Manners went out the window a long time ago." She straightened a few things on the shelves. "So, no more questions from either of you?"

"Not yet," Steve said.

"Although we will take wagers on how long it takes for him to start coming on his own to see her," Sam said with a grin.

"I'm sure Kenzie will be pleased when he does," Gemma said. "She's been worried that she might have scared him off already."

"Nah. He was a bit hesitant, but he's hard to scare off," Steve said with a grin. "Once he decides he likes her, she won't be able to get rid of him even if she tried."

"She won't try," Gemma said. "She wants him, so she'll do everything she can to keep him. Sounds like it'll be easy."

"Probably, they're already hitting it off," Steve observed. He glanced at her. "You okay with that?"

"I have to be, at this point," Gemma responded. She didn't look at him, though, instead fiddling with some things on her counter.

Steve was quiet for a moment. "Well, if you need to talk..." He let the sentence trail off.

"I'm fine," Gemma said, shaking her head a bit. "Nothing you need to worry about."

Steve scribbled down his number. "In case you change your mind," he said, smiling a little at her. "Or in case you want some company. We don't live far, it's no trouble to come here."

"We'll see," Gemma said, taking the bit of paper. "But thanks for the offer."

Steve nodded. "We can let you get back to work, you look like you have things you need to be doing, and we're in the way," he said, not at all offended.

"It's fine if you stay," Gemma said, shaking her head a bit. "You're not in the way, and it's probably a good idea to stay where your friend left you, for when he comes back."
