Kenzie sighed at that and shook her head. "Well, you're here now," she said. "May as well get you fed up a bit while I have the chance."

"What?" Tony asked, looking rapidly between the two.

Kenzie blinked. Oh yeah. Oops. "Caspian, these are my current hoard," she said, turning to look at them again. "And I rather like all of them, so no nipping. Child." She gave him a stern look before she introduced everyone. Then she looked at the group with a little smile. "And this is Caspian, my son."

"Wait a second, wait a second," Clint said, holding up his hands. "Son? Since when? I didn't know you had kids. That kind of seems like an important thing to know."

Bucky was silent as he listened to the whole exchange. This was bigger than he knew how to deal with on his own.

Caspian looked at them all inquisitively.

"Are you sure I can't have one of them?" he asked, looking up at Kenzie. "I rather like magic, I wouldn't mind keeping the witch."

"No, find your own," Kenzie told him. "She's been with me a long time. Brat." She tweaked his nose and looked at Clint. "Yes, son. I don't see him very often. Once every decade or so."

Steve sidled over next to Bucky. "You alright?" he murmured.

Caspian waved his mother's hand away, making a face.

"Quit it," he said.

"Not sure," Bucky muttered. "Working on it. Don't know how to handle this."

Kenzie smirked at him and ruffled his hair, just to be contrary. "How long will you be staying?" she asked.

Steve nodded. Yeah, he didn't know how to handle this, and he wasn't nearly as invested as Bucky. "Let me know if you need to go work off some steam."

"Until Father catches on that I slipped away," Caspian replied with a shrug. He ducked under her hand. "Probably another day or two."

"Yeah, maybe," Bucky murmured.

Kenzie nodded. "Well then, I suppose I ought to feed you." She eyed him again. "He has been feeding you, hasn't he?"

Steve nodded and stayed put where he was. This could end very poorly.

"Mom, honestly, I'm fine," Caspian said, rolling his eyes. "You worry too much."

After a few moments, Gemma stepped foward.

"So what's going on?" she asked, looking at Kenzie.

Kenzie blinked, thrown by the question. "My son decided to come visit since he and his father were in the area," she said with a shrug. "He'll likely only be here a day or two, three at most. He's mostly well-behaved." She gave her son a look just daring him to misbehave now.

"Okay." Gemma looked at Caspian and then nodded a bit. "Then I'll go see if I can talk the others into not making a big deal out of things."

"Thank you." Kenzie smiled at her and tugged Caspian off so they could talk more.

Steve looked at Gemma and raised his eyebrows.

Gemma turned and saw Steve's look.

"Okay, so I might have known already that Kenzie has... offspring," she said. "Granted, not this particular one, but still."

Steve nodded. "Okay. So she has... Multiple children?" Oh this was so not good for Bucky.

"Two, that I know of," Gemma replied. "I don't know if she has more than that but I don't think she does."

Steve nodded. "Okay," he murmured. "As long as she doesn't throw any more surprised at us I think we'll be okay."

"Honestly, I didn't think to mention it because they never really come up," Gemma said apologetically. "From what I understand, the children stay with the fathers, not with her. And I'm fairly certain one is still an egg, anyways. So it's never really been an issue."

Steve nodded, putting an arm around her to pull her in closer.

"It's not your fault," he murmured. "This just caught us by surprise. Especially Bucky."

"It caught me by surprise at first, too," Gemma admitted. She leaned against Steve a bit. "I only found out when Kenzie wanted me to cover for her when she left for a while, just before the whole news thing blew up."

Steve shook his head a bit at that. "She needs to communicate better," he murmured.

"I know," Gemma said. She quirked a bit of a grin. "It's an ongoing effort."

Steve snorted quietly and pulled her in close. "Are you alright with this?" He nodded over to where Kenzie and her son had vanished to.

Gemma shrugged a little.

"I guess so," she said, cuddling into his arms. "I mean, I'm kind of used to the idea at this point. She told me she had offspring because she needed me to cover while she had an egg for a male. At least, as far as I'm aware that's what she did." She glanced at Kenzie again. "I mean, it's not like her kids stay with her. From what she told me, they stay with the fathers."

Steve shook his head. "I guess you've just had longer to adjust," he murmured. "This is... very weird to me."

"It's just weird, I promise, it's not just you," Gemma said. She cuddled closer. "It'll work out. She said he's only going to be around for a couple of days."

"Yeah." Steve glanced back at Bucky briefly before holding her a little tighter. "I'm just wondering how much will happen in those couple days."
