If you already have a big clientele I can see how that would work but for someone who's just starting out like me, it would be really hard to get on my feet if I do go through Wyzant :/
Or maybe I'm just really skeptical about everything with what happened at Vector and it scared me enough to not trust shady companies [eyeroll]

Aimless.Wanderer: ah I should have clarified. What my friends did was use WyzAnt to have an influx of new students. So they would not actually do all the tutoring online through WyzAnt. They made a profile on WyzAnt so interested students would contact them. And then they would set up a different way to do the real tutoring. If they were close by, for example, they'd meet up at a library or something for the tutoring sessions; otherwise, they found other ways like Skype and then venmo the payment. That way, they didn't actually have to pay WyzAnt a percentage of what they wanted to charge. If it helps, those friends of mine made a lot of dough doing this and are all in medical school right now. So while I've never personally used that website, I know it's a legit way to get students, even if the tutoring isn't actually done through the website to avoid the fees
Shadami, cool what online classes did you take

Ohh that makes sense. That's actually really smart, no wonder they're in med school now
If I do independent tutoring, I would have to convince the kid's parents that I'm actually smart enough to teach their kid But I guess Wyzant would work if I had the means to actually go places. I would use my bike but it has two flat tires and our air pump broke this past spring break [sigh]

Ah sorry to hear about your bike. Or you can try doing it via Skype or Google Hangouts so it would still be like online video tutoring, but not through WyzAnt :) there are always ways to go about it! You just have to try! :D how have you done on standardized tests and whatnot? Parents are usually interested to know those numbers when deciding on a tutor

Hmmm, I know on the ACT I got a 28 on it, but I know some parents want a tutor that got a perfect ACT score or something but you're right! I wouldn't know till I give it a shot. And if I do tutoring I would be doing general tutoring like if kids are doing summer courses and they need help with something then I can help. The knowledge my brain stores is pretty ridiculous and I need some kids to dump it all on. There's never such a thing as too much knowledge >.<

If you did super well in a particular subject, you can find students to help who are struggling in that area. Or you can always try tutoring children of a younger age if you can't find any high school students to tutor! :) Especially if you love kids, there's a ton of knowledge you can share with them!

it was interesting. but if I'd been able to retain more of it. and remember to get online i'd have done better. but finding out halfway in that I was pregnant my grades plummeted. I was constantly forgetting things and falling asleep and hovering in the bathroom. not to throw up. just so nauseous i thought i was going to. xD

yeah. she showed me her healed shot wounds today actually. she's so dramatic about them. her sister sits and takes two like a champ. she starts screaming bloody murder the moment she see's them. and complains that they hurt for days *she's fine*
