I know. I heard it was a new strain of flu that they haven't made a vaccine for, so everyone is getting sick fairly quickly this year

I know. It is awful. And this is the first year I have gotten flu that I can remember and it SUCKS! I have an awful immune system and I try to be careful because when I get sick it takes me FOREVER to get over things. A coworker came to work with the flu, mind you she is a nurse, and I caught it... I hope the clients didn't catch it. I still feel awful... I am on my second round of zpac.

When I'm sick, I stay at home so I'm able to come on Menewsha more often. o3o
I don't know, maybe I'm the only one that goes online when I'm sick. It makes me feel better to sit in bed with my laptop and scroll through threads or look at hilarious cat videos on YouTube.
Edit; Or check to see how my OTPs are doing on Tumblr or something.

I'm not sick but my headache is going away, and I've got some food cooking in the toaster oven -- does that count?

I hate it when people are clearly sick and they still go to work or school. It is really annoying to hear people sniffling a runny nose or blowing their nose. Not only that, the hideous coughing and sneezing that you get especially when you're sick is really noticeable too. And I also have a weak immune system, and it's really hard for me to get over a cold/flu than a normal person. It's really irritating, it makes me want to shove all the sick people in one place and quarantine them until they get better

While it is troublesome to have sick people around healthy people, you can't blame them for going to work and school. I try to think that they have their reasons for being there. I'm sure those who physically feel healthy and are just coughing/sneezing/etc probably see no reason to stay at home. Perhaps they don't want to lose productivity or aren't' sick enough to warrant a doctor's note nor have the time or money to see a doctor.
Perhaps if you're worried, you could wear a clinical mask? I think hospitals can give you those, especially during flu season. I tend to just wash my hands like crazy when it's flu season. And not go near anyone. XD!

There are also some colds that don't really show much outward signs other than "maybe sinus infection?" My mom had Walking Pneumonia last year, and she just thought she was stressed and had a mild sinus cold. So it's not always the sick person's fault for going out sick.
And you cant honestly expect every sick person to stay home, if I was sick I would still go to work because I need the money. Things are tight enough, can't lose any hours. :<

It is really considerate. I can understand why it happens. Not being able to miss work or school. I have gone to work and school sick, but not with something highly contagious.

I can when it comes to the flu. Especially when the person who came to work sick is a nurse and knew what could and ultimately would happen. She was congested, had an awful cough, and a fever and still came to work the half day wednesday and the next day before she was sent home by our charge RN with a fever of over 103F. The flu is HIGHLY contagious and being a nurse, she not only knew that, but put clients at harms risk. Some of the clients have disorders that if they were to contract something like the flu, it could seriously be detrimental to their health putting them at risk for secondary infections like pneumonia.
I am not saying that going to school or work sick is always a bad thing. I can understand not being able to afford to not work. I am sure everyone has done it at times. Through nursing school I went to school sick all the time because I couldn't miss. But I never went to school or work with the flu or with flu symptoms. The moment I knew I thought I had the flu, I had my mom get one of my nephews masks(he has severe asthma and his doctors have him wear masks when it is cold out) and she took me to the doctor.

Aww! I hope she is okay. Pneumonia is rough. I definitely don't expect everyone to stay home when they are sick. But I do when they have the flu. :/

When I mean sick, I mean running a high fever and all bundled up. I guess I can understand that they don't want to miss anything, but at the same time, I don't feel like doing anything when I'm sick, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way [:l]

For me, I do my best to not go to class sick... but I am only allowed a very very small number of 'sick' days in classes before I start losing grades - my teachers will drop grades a WHOLE letter grade if you miss over the maximum days missed, which for all four of my classes is only two class periods. I do my best to sit as far from other people, but there are just times that I can not just not go to class or live my life just because I'm sick. It just depends on what is going on... so really - understanding that if some people actually want to pass classes... and do not have a legitimate sickness that warrants actually going to the doctor because they just have a cold... sorry, but sometimes we still have to go to classes sick.

School gremlins, LOL. You hit the nail right on the head.
I've my biology exam day after so I really should be studying, but these are just the preparatory finals, not the finals, and I've stayed away from Mene too long and I don't think I can do it anymore dammit!I'm not staying away any longer. Even if finals are barely a fortnight away I'm NOT *breathes heavily and quiets down*
