Understandable that terrible puns about the firebird are even less welcome, then.

I don't quite consider him stupid, but yes, I have a boyfriend. :P

Stable relationship for just shy of four years now (in spite of what the various folks who claimed the age difference would never work out said. 11 years age-difference between the two of us.)
Funnily enough, despite red hair being the rarest, we're both natural redheads, although his shade of red is a tad lighter than mine.
As to telling you about him, what d'you want to know? I could blather on for a while yet not give you any info you're interested in, so... XD

Oh, I don't give a flying fuck about age-differences either.

Well, to some degree, I do, I suppose--my 19-year-old sister recently going on a date with someone who's in their forties definitely had me raise an eyebrow to say the least and it looks a bit disconcerting to see my 83-year-old grandfather successfully flirt with a 51-year-old woman--especially since he has children older than that--but then again, those are pretty extreme examples.

...guess age-differences run in our family or such?

Eh. As long as everyone involved is involved with the correct amount of sound mindedness and for the right reasons, go for it. xD

dys your art is so cute wtf
and im pretty down with age differences as long as it isnt pedophilic ykno.. like 36yr old with an 11yr old. something is just not right with that imo.

Yeah, but I kind of have to wonder about the sound-mindedness of a 42-year-old man dating a 19-year-old girl.

Frankly speaking, I think "not being of wholly mature and sound mind" is the better of two possibilities, there.

(I don't foresee it becoming a lasting relationship, what with my sister's list of exes by now already capable of filling a classroom, anyway )

Zyne: prepubescent + adult is...not right. Minor during puberty + adult is...wrong according to the law but depends a fair bit more on the people involved. Adult+adult is their good right even if one's more than twice the age of the other -shrug- but doesn't mean it won't lift an eyebrow now-and-then. XD

NO.

That's what I mean by sound-mindedness. Someone has to have the right mind to make the right decisions. Someone that's 11 rarely is at that state.

---------- Post added 02-21-2015 at 11:33 PM ----------

/shrug. I'm not one to judge. I don't think age means much at all, as long as the participants' hearts and minds are in the right place.

YES.

and yea and it's just idk i think if someone in their later teens+ wants to date someone that's still basically a child there's something gross about them too :/ but in general it's more of a whatever. my parents have an eight year difference so... :p

Yeah, and similarly, someone who normally is of sound-mindedness can still be temporarily not, like while completely drunk.

"Informed consent, freely-given" is the keyphrase of the day every day.

NO.

Ionno. As long as they got the right mind to consent to it, I don't consider them a child. xD
It ain't none of my damn business as long as no one's taking advantage of no one.

Dys, suspect that was directed at zyne more than me?

There's people who aren't children who are unable to consent as well as people able to consent who society sees as "children"--or at least, as not-adults.

Age is a number and matters least in all this, methinks. Maturity and physical readiness matter a good bit more. (That is, someone can be really precocious and mentally be ready for something, if their body isn't actually ready for the acts it's committing, it's still a rather bad idea all around.)

But well, as far as laws go, it's a good bit easier to determine someone's age at any particular given point in time than their mental or physical "readiness" and ability to consent, hence the law's fixations on certain numbers, I guess.
(As a result, though, there's folks under the age of consent who're quite able/willing/ready to give informed consent and never regret it, as well as folks well above it who aren't)

8U The laws regarding age of consent are stupid as all fucking shit and need reform. That's all I gotta say about 'em.

Looks like we're in agreement there, Dys-dear.

Wish the laws would focus more on consent and less on age and that people would get it in their heads that gender, sexuality, religion, appearance, influence, social position or wealth of either the victim or the perpetrator have ab-so-fucking-lutely nothing to do with whether or not things were consensual.

Really, it's quite simple. It's not yes in absence of a no; it's no in absence of a freely-given, informed yes.

/climbs off soapbox.
