The thing about Telugu baby talk is that I've been using it all my childhood. And all Telugus talk to babies that way. So I know it better than grown up Telugu and I inadvertently use it on grown ups too sometimes. Without the cooing tone people use to talk to babies. I keep freaking people out

ziggle- Once I met this kid who didn't even know there was a world beyond his city. He was in Delhi and I told him I was from Hyderabad and peeps speak Telugu there. He was like 'How do you say 'food' in Telugu? How do you write it?' I said 'Amu' and wrote it in the Telugu script on his slate and then my mom was like 'Seriously?! That's baby language. It's 'annam'.' And I was like so yeah... it doesn't have a particularly babyish sound or anything. Just that the words are shorter and much cuter. 'Kappukunedi' which is 'blanket' becomes 'Kappa'. Easier to say and cuter.
