But teachers have the whoooole summer off unless they work another job or teach summer school. when I was in high school and ran cross country, two out of the 6 physical education teachers were our coaches for track & cross country. Coach Gill (male) Coach Conley (female) and they practiced/coached the team the whole summer. Which they weren't paid to do. Another teacher mentioned that teachers can save up a lil to cover their summer expenses during the summer months or their spouses covered all the bills. Just depends I guess.

It makes up for the crazy amount of extra hours I work during the school year

I work at least 10 hours every day during the school year - with all the before and after school ensembles that I do (I'm a music teacher) plus all the concerts, etc. So having the 2 months off during the summer kind of makes up for it? But it's not like I sit around all summer - I lesson plan all summer, work in my classroom, create manipulatives, etc.

Yep my mom will be at school during the summer too. She's either cleaning or setting up new bulletin boards or lesson planning. I usually have to help, haha. I'm pretty good at it too, so I'm planing on teaching English to either junior high or high schoolers. Maybe then i won't help to help my mom anymore haha! She's teaching 3rd right now.

But noooooo kidz for what like 13-14 wks Unless u have ur own to look after BUT u r right, I can remember the thankless unpaid hrs my teachers went through being involved myself as a student in so many extracurricular activities & Becuz those teachers made such an impact on me & many other student, I know I always look bck with great memories of them all. Like my track & cross country coaches especially. They would pick up the team in Coach Conley's personal vehicle (a van) just so we wud all make it to practice on time. During the school yr she also made us brown bag lunches before big meets or we wud all go out to eat. Some of u guys r totally awesome.
