Same.

Also it's just a movie. There's no reason to take everything on screen literally =__=. That's how conspiracy theories start.

TaiyoTsuki, have you seen the movie?
I am old enough that I saw the movie when it was new...it definitely gave food for thought.

I Would never watch that movie!
I get scared of movies about people eating people....

Except for Sweeney Todd, now that was a movie I could watch!

I bet it's even better on Broadway than it was on film! :D

I personally wouldn't compare the two, musicals in theaters and musicals in movies are very different, in my opinion.
Both are good.

The only Broadway show I've ever seen was The Lion King and I thought it was AMAZING! So I know I'd love Sweeney Todd.

I think if anything, I think most of the time, musicals on Broadway have better music than musical movies. But yeah, I guess it's true that they're both so different they can't really be compared.

I think Sweeny Todd is no longer on broadway, sadly. :(

It wouldn't surprise me if they revived it at some point though!

I've seen The Lion King and The Phantom of the Opera. Seen young people do Wizard of Oz and Beauty and the Beast. Saw University of Michigan students put on The Little Mermaid.

I've seen the phantom of the opera so many times...
My mom got me tickets when I was a kid, we saw the movie in school (twice!) and then we also saw the broadway version again when I was older...and then someone gifted me a ticket a couple years after that...lmao

I read the book in high school. Have seen the movie as well. Seen the Broadway show twice. Once in Toronto once in Detroit.

Oh, and the school was on a Broadway kick for a while...We also saw it in theater after watching the movie. We also saw something in German that was an opera, but I can't remember what...Maybe Hansel and Gretel? I really don't remember because I could not pay attention...Trying to read the translator and also following what was going on onstage was really difficult...-.-"

That does sound difficult. :(
I don't like reading subtitles on movies, let alone reading translators during a play!

I have to say the University of Michigan theater production of The Little Mermaid was one of the best things I've ever seen.

We were supposed to do a write up on it as well, I don't think I did it. I think I handed in a sheet of paper that said, "I couldn't follow the translator and the on stage action at once."
I don't think they did it again because most people paid attention to one or the other.
And some students I'm pretty sure slept through most of it.

That is understandable.
Unfortunately I think the reality of it is that unless someone is fluent in German, it would be very difficult to follow without a translator and with one it can be distracting.
As I have heard, people say reading a play or any sort of literature in a translated version is like kissing a woman through a veil.

They didn't teach German at our school either which I thought was strange.
Nor Italian, just Spanish and French. The french class was particularly awful too. I speak from experience, I heard the Spanish classes were good though. :( Sad I missed out but I thought French would be closer to Haitian French, and boy was I wrong! lol

Ava took French in school too.
She did pretty well in middle school and the first year of high school, then the next year her teacher made her quit French because Ava was doing a lot of traveling back and forth to Los Angeles and her teacher said she needed to be there every single day in order to get a decent grade.

This teacher was rather rude, though.

But Ava liked French.

She also took Spanish in her last few years of high school, but those were online classes and she really sucked at Spanish!
