good evening to all! Baywatch is on. Featuring a golden retriever. So cute!

Mr. W, regarding the bull run. Maybe one day spain will take my suggestion of a bull in a china shop. Everyone brings their most ancestrial china piece and stock the shop. Then, on bull crazed day, they let him in shop to thrash n crash. Great excitement ensues with spectators and their beloved china pieces. Bets might even be taken. Later they can examine the destroyed shoppe with bated breath.

or how about this? The bulls are let loose. A crowd of camera toting papparazzi take off in hot pursuit. No one gets hurt!

I would like the gas pumps in oregon.

cap, didn't know rockwell painted dark scenes. I love your dog!

izzy, that's great news about the rental in august! Keep asking around tho, to have back up plans. Is that house down the mountain?

got business desky to do. Bye!

Good evening! Cap, when your hat brim is pulled up that way it looks like the mad hatters!

Poet, thank you for your reply.

Mr w, how is the avoidance of the evil dragon, aka corn syrup, going?

It was cooler tonight so I was able to take a salt bath. Good for the mood.

Been working on my business desky. Took packet to post office. Had to certify it. Make sure it gets there. That cost $6. The envelope$2. Pretty bad when you can't trust the post office to do their job without paying a guaranteed delivery. I think post office will go out of business soon. The new carriers dress sloppy. They are temp too, so not invested in doing job accurately. My uncle was a post man in the day when the job was important and dignified.

I was pouring some almond roca syrup in my Joe. Mr x thought I was drinking liquor cause bottle was wine shaped. No, don't drink alcohol anymore. There's still bottles of spirits in cupboard. I don't think they go hard. Like gin. I used to like a splash in soda.

Well back to desky. A secretaries work is never done.

Cappy, how do you know all the elements of your ancestry? How far back can you trace?

Had a big mac and Oreo frappe at Macs.

Mr xs evil dragon seems to be carrageen. I don't even know how to spell it. But I've seen it around. Supposed to be carcinogen. Said Mr x who read it in one of my mags.

So gf has moved about 3.5 hrs away, yet she's coming back every weekend. She still has a post office box in my city. I'd like a toast office box. Open box and get a slice of goodness.

Carageenan. I dated her back in college.

I stumbled a bit with the urge to slurge on a pack of dollar store cookies, but other than that my warding off of pesky corn syrup dragons has gone well. I need to develop the habit of bringing my own ketchup into restaurants as they most always serve Heinz or Hunt's ketchup which contains corn syrup dragon drool. But French's ketchup does not.

Smuckers also contains corn syrup dragon drool so I'll eventually switch to Welches since it does not.

I wrote a note to Coke recently telling them that corn syrup free Sprite would be awesome. I love Sprite and most rootbeer brands, but alas, they contain the dreaded dragon's drool. This has got me thinking about making my own soda.

How goes the pink life?

Too much clove and licorice. Yuck! Rat Bastard rootbeer is also horrible.

When judging a rootbeer, A&W sets the standard. Rootbeers are typically at or below the taste of A&W. But I won't drink A&W any longer because it contains high fructose corn syrup. Actually, I've been avoiding all rootbeers because of this one ingredient.

But only three rootbeers surpass A&W in my opinion and those three are Bulldog, Hank's, and Goose Island.

Frostie, Ted's, and Jone's Soda rootbeer are on par with A&W. I know Jones uses pure cane sugar so they're ok.

The next best is Barq's rootbeer from Coca-Cola, but it contains high fructose corn syrup.

Dad's rootbeer and Hires rootbeer are relatively ok.

I would rank Dr. Brown's rootbeer at the bottom with Mug, Virgil's, and Rat Bastard with the worst being Rat Bastard. This miserable excuse for rootbeer was so bad I poured out what remaining after my first sip. Fortunately, I've only seen Rat Bastard rootbeer once and that was at a hardware store in Dumas, Texas and so it isn't widely available thank God.

---------- Post added 07-24-2016 at 04:09 PM ----------

Sioux City, IBC, and Henry Weinhards are also good, but are just shy of A&W.

---------- Post added 07-24-2016 at 04:16 PM ----------

I'm harsh with Virgil's rootbeer because it is billed as a gourmet rootbeer, but has too many ingredients that are not typically contained in roobeers with one of these ingredients being clove oil. If you've ever tasted clove oil, you know it tastes like Turn-of-the-Century medicine and numbs your tongue. Clove oil was actually used by dentists way back when for the purpose of numbing the gums of their patients.

It was wash day at ye ole pink ranchero. Mr x is watching star trek. They're running the 1st episodes of all the star trek venues. Woke up with a headache and it's been dogging me since. And Mr x is chatting at me. Going to have to vacate this room soon.

So, Mr w. The office project is a personal business one. Involves forms out the Yahoo, fact checking, appointments, reference reading. I work and think about it on my off hours.

You certainly are a connoisseur of root beer! What do you drink instead? Ice tea? It has antioxidants.

And now I'm going back to bed.

I meant the 19th century turning into the 20th century, your pink majesty.

Are you planning on starting a business?

I drink water mostly nowadays. Washington, Oregon, Iowa, and Mississippi seem to have good tasting water. I've tried various chocolate milk from around the country, too. Darigold tops the list in my book. Gotta get whole milk chocolate as 1% may as well be a Yoohoo.

The only teas I like are the bad for me flavored teas from Lipton. I prefer a raspberry tea like the ones offered by PepsiCo and Coca-Cola company. When I'm back east, The Turkey Hill brand is also a fine choice for tea.

I also enjoy trying flavored teas offered by certain restaurant as their house tea. I'm really never disappointed going that route.

I'm going to jot down your root beer list, wrong san. Sometimes I enjoy a root beer. Or when the red baron comes over. I guess you could say it's a pink side business. I think my dragon drool Will be artificial sweeteners. They're probably not good. Water or tea probably best.

Mr x watching sharknado show. That shark and tornado blend?

I'd rather drink Rat Bastard rootbeer than vodka. That stuff is harsh.

I finally visited Yak's restaurant outside Dunsmuir, California tonight. This is off I-5 at exit 730.
I've passed the place dozens of times in my tractor trailer before, but can't stop there because there isn't anywhere to park a big rig. Since I was driving north in Black Betty it was feasible.

Yak's is one of the Yelp 100 best restaurants in America. But I would not go quite that far. Looking at the menu I noticed they had "Yaketizers". A clever merging of words I must say. The menu is mostly gourmet burgers with different twists. I ordered the Manbourbon burger which had on it bacon, a chewy cheddar cheese, and some sauce that was more like a pancake syrup. Even so it was a heckuva burger. Not quite big enough to be filling for me, but certainly tasty. The French fries were below average. And I just ordered a water to drink.

Yak's was certainly busy, though. Not packed, but almost. The building could use a remodeling for sure. I probably won't return.

Hi, Folks!
I just thought I'd stop in and say "Hi!"
Not much to report on my end...
We still haven't heard what the rent would be on the house of the parents of the BF's coworker....
The BF has been working late nearly every night...and working on the weekends...and we still have no money saved.
Hope has been spending more and more time with her parents...leaving me alone with only Sarah to talk to while the BF is away.
I am stressed and worried and waiting for the next bad thing to happen!
Well...a not so good thing has happened...the plumbing seems to be creating a horrible odor to rise from under the kitchen sink and from the drain in the utility room floor...
I had woke thinking that the trash had gone bad and prepared to take it outside to the dumpster...but the odor was so strong on my newly-awake senses that I gagged and gagged the whole time I tied the bag and carried it outside....only to realize that the smell hadn't been coming from the garbage!
I opened windows and aired the place out a bit...and my gag reflex settled down so I could drink some coffee.
...This has occurred before...but the odor has never been quite this strong! ....but it has always gone away...so I hope it does this time, too...so I won't be subjected to this putrid odor for the entirety of the remainder of the days I have left to live here!

Speaking of trash...The Big Black Bear has been coming to visit!...so raid the trash dumpster!
We use a bungee cord to lock the lid closed...but the BF forgot the other day...
I heard the dumpster fall over and went to look...
There was Mr. Big Bear, dragging something off into the forest!
I went back inside to finish what I was doing...then I checked back outside...just in time to see Mr. Bear considering a return visit to the trash dumpster!
I shined my extra bright flashlight into his eyes and he just kept looking from me...toward the overturned dumpster...back towards me....until I stood up from my crouched position and raised my hands over my head!
Then, he just turned and walked rather nonchalantly on up the road.
So...I have been adamant about locking the dumpster...but that hasn't stopped Mr. Bear from coming by to toss the barrel around and force the lid open enough to pull stuff out!
Last night he came back 2 times...the brave BF walked up the road the bear went up with his extra bright flashlight but Mr. Bear had finally made his departure for the night.
He came back by, again, tonite...I heard the dumpster fall over and went outside to scare him off...
He didn't look like he was going to scare so easily this time...till I walked toward him and banged on the dumpster....then he turned tail and hurried up the road.
He is a BIG bear! ...every bit as big as the bears one sees at the circus!
I sure am glad that black bears are instinctually cowards!

We had 4 male deer come by the other evening...
Hope got to see them.
In fact, Hope was on the deck, calling to them to come to her...like one would call to a dog!
The deer never came to her...but they gave her a nice view of them eating the wildflowers and grass across the driveway!
We also seem to have bunnies...the first time since we have lived here...
Apparently the foxes had a bad breakout of mange, so the fox population goes down and the bunnies and chipmunks and other rodents multiply quickly!

The hummingbirds really like Hope!
They come around when she isn't here...to get their drinks...but I don't hear them like I do when Hope is here and playing outside!
When she is here, they chase each other and zoom close to Hope's head...making her gasp in excitement!
They don't exhibit this behavior when only I go outside!

Sarah has been doing better...at least she has been showing more interest in eating!
For a little bit, there, she was looking like a skeleton with skin over it!...except that her ribs weren't showing...but her face was looking pretty "boney!"
But something changed (who knows "what!") and she has been eating large meals...mostly by herself!...and finishing all her food!
Though this causes me distress because I have to lift her, I am happy to see her putting some weight back on!
She has also been more receptive to being tickled! ....for a long while, she just wouldn't laugh when I tickled all the "right" spots...
But she has enjoyed being tickled till she is out of breath and telling me to "Stop!" in sign language! ....only for her to sign "More!" when I quit! Lol!

I haven't felt so good, lately...
I suspect it is caused by the worry and stress I and enduring...but I just don't seem to have the endurance I had a month ago...
Walking to the mailbox and back really takes it out of me lately!
...By the time I get back to the house, my legs ache and I am exhausted!
I have been slowing down on the hand-washed laundry...getting one load done in two days...just not feeling up to staying with it till it's done...plus my wrist and hands seem to be hurting more than usual.
My hip hurts me if I stand too long...so, it takes me for forever to get all the dishes washed...
Yet, if I sit for too long, my left leg aches until it forces me to get up and find something to do to take my mind off the pain!
Not much food sounds good to eat...but I do eat one decent meal every day, whether it tastes good to me or not...and I have been catching myself overindulging on candy!
...It starts with me looking at the candy and thinking "that really doesn't sound good right now," ...but, before long I have eaten far more than my fair share!...more like 3 or 4 servings in one sitting!!
Then I question myself: "Why on earth did you eat ALL THAT CANDY?"
My reply is usually something along the lines of "Because I secretly have a death wish and hope to die of a sugar high!"
(Yes...I DO have such conversations with myself, btw! Lol!)

Well...not much else is going on here...
The weather has been ever so pleasant at our elevation...
While folks are roasting in temperatures exceeding the 90 degree mark in the city, I have been flirting with adding a sweater to my ensemble to ward off chills and goosebumps!
The warmest part of the day is rarely hot enough to complain...and a stray cloud covering the sun for a few minutes will reduce the temperature in a hurry!

I hope everybody is doing well...not melting or in fear of your home going up in flames...
I hope life has been treating you all well!
I'll check back in when I have the time...
Hope is returning tomorrow (Thursday), so my time won't be my own for a while! Lol! (I'm not complaining! I LOVE having Hope with me to use up all my time! She gets much more enjoyment from my time than I do! Lol!)
Everybody have a great day/evening/weekend! !

Thank you for the update, Inzaned One. We haven't heard from you in a while and I was thinking about you just back a bit. Ever try pouring bleach down a drain to alleviate a smell? That is something I used to do during my days as a janitor. There would be an awful odor arising from a drain on the floor and pouring bleach into this drain made that smell subside for a week or so.

I enjoyed reading about your multiple bear encounters. I've never seen a bear outside of captivity before and I've spent considerable amounts of time walking through forests. Don't try this, but I wonder if pouring bleach on a black bear would change its hair color. Or would you have to use hydrogen peroxide?

People who bleach bears on the next Geraldo.

I'm glad Sarah has gotten better and Hope is becoming one with nature. She might become the hummingbird whisperer in the near future. Then she could have her own tv show on Animal Planet.

May your move go smoothly and everything fall into place.
