Camels aren't huggable. Aren't fluffy, unlike alpacas.

As for llamas, I don't know about llamas.

So whoever's funny deserves hugs? A fine sentiment.

that sounds so cool. they have comicon in London's O2 arena, but I'm always busy when its on so I've never been. my niece goes every year and makes some really cool costumes, Pokémon and some such. a friend of mine went as Rorschach from The Watchmen one year, the costume was pretty simple. a trench coat, trilby hat, and one leg of a white pair of tights printed with a Rorschach test pulled over his head. it looked the real deal though

for Halloween this year I will be mainly chaperone to a gaggle of trick or treating kids, I do it every year. I paint all their faces and take them to all the hottest candy spots where all the rich folk live because the pickings are poor in their neighbour

Menelaus, you are one awesome guy! I wish I could come with you!
I loved helping the kids get dressed up when my kids were little....neighborhood kids would knock on my door and ask me to make them into something....and I usually did a fair job of it, I think!

I will be home....on the dark and lonely mountain...for Halloween....for we have no transportation to go to a more populated region for the holiday.....
Maybe NEXT year.....

So, anyways.....BOO EVERYBODY!!

Getting old is so strange. I use to enjoy it, but snotty teens and little cons really ruined it for me.
I used to love dressing up for the trick or treater's but the last few years I did I closed up shop when the older kids started showing up with smart mouths and or without costumes.
Where I live now we don't have trick or treat but they do in town.

When we lived in the city, we usually got some older kids at the door....but we usually put a scary monster on our porch and the kids would dare each other to go to the door....cuz sometimes our monster stood up or reached out a hand! ....I think that some of those teens had to go home to change their undies! Lmao!
But even the older kids were generally polite.
I miss Halloween in the city.

We had no visitors at our door this year. In fact, even the deer, fox and bears didn't even come by! Lol!

lol, I think we need to do a house swap, I'd much prefer the company of forest animals over people knocking at my door. uh, in a platonic way if course

I dunno....house swap sounds good....till I remember the pub across the alley....
I think I'll stick with the bears and lions and deers...oh MY!
(We have, yet, to see a mountain lion or a raccoon...or a skunk...near our house...and we have been here a few years!)

I hope Bonfire Night is loads of fun!!

We see a lot of birds....especially hawks, falcons and eagles.
The other day, the BF had just gotten to work...him and the guy giving him a ride...when a big white bird flew over their car.
Upon watching, this bird flew to the eve of the roof of the tire store....and was being attacked by magpies!
The white bird flew away, toward a power pole....but one wing clipped the wire...spinning it around and the other wing touched the transformer....and it dropped like a rock!
The BF ran to see if the bird could be helped...but the bird was tensed as if having a seizure...then it went still.
The BF and his coworkers scooped up the bird, wrapped it in plastic and put it in the freezer....then went about contacting a taxidermist, cuz the bird was beautiful!
The taxidermist told him that it sounded like a rare bird, and that they might call the Division of Wildlife....to avoid a possible hefty fine for possessing such a bird!
When the Wildlife Officer came, he told the BF that they couldn't keep it...for it was a Very Rare White Falcon!
He took it away....said it will prolly get stuffed and auctioned off for charity.
The BF was bummed for days!....not cuz he couldn't keep the bird, but because he, and he, alone, watched that gorgeous bird take his last flight!

My opinion is that the magpies were attacking it because it was unusual....and the falcon was prolly not accustomed to the dangers of power lines....and cruel nature took its course....sad as it is.
The magpies were also prolly protecting their foodsource...a dumpster at the barbeque restaurant next door.

The BF got to see 3 baby raccoons, in a pile of tires, at the other tire store, before he quit there...
How cute!
I wonder what ever came of them....

lol, of course I did, I was pinged, so lurking was permitted by default

that's a sad tale, about the falcon's demise. magpies are very territorial, especially over their feeding grounds and nesting areas. I've seen them chasing off gangs of crows, kestrels a few times and once, at a falconry show during an activities weekend, a family of magpies attacked the eagle that was the star attraction. guess they instinctively know the dangers of birds of prey, as we don't have anything bigger than a peregrine falcon this far south (William the Conqueror and his Normans hunted them all off for sport) and its rare to see any birds of prey this deep into the city. pigeons go crazy if one flies overhead, and not because they're after autographs

got my tickets for the fireworks, yaaay! roll on Saturday night

I had a friend who saw Fireworks yesterday.
But it would make much more sense to see them on a weekend. In my opinion.

Like a MAGPIE~! I live for glitter, not you~ ♫

Instead of love, I prefer to believe in a day when my art doesn't look like garbage.
