That's what I thought at first, Amane.....
But I wanted to be sure. O_O

You never know who truly wants you dead in a ditch...

---------- Post added 01-10-2016 at 09:31 PM ----------

That's sad, Menelaus.

Seizures are really scary. I wouldn't wish them on anyone.

she's embracing life with both hands firmly on the joystick. her family arranged for her to be admitted to a hospital up in the north of England (where she's originally from) so she could be nearer to them, she's found herself a new boyfriend, and she parties like a true hardcore raver. definitely not letting it hold her back in the slightest

Are you taking any new meds? ...maybe that is the cause of the symptoms you speak of?
I hope you are feeling much better!

Hope has left for a stay with her parents, so I am kinda left with vacant hands and lots of time on my hands....
Maybe I'll actually get to spend more than a few fleeting moments on here! ....barring any unexpected distractions from the BF and Sarah! Lol!
Sarah has been having a "seizure week"....having had 3 seizures in 2 days...she is being very quiet and subdued.
She will probably remain quiet for another day before she returns to her normal, whiny self....provided this wave of seizures is over with.
We are pretty confident that Sarah's seizures are affected by the weather systems...unfortunately, it is when bad weather turns to good weather that it will be most likely Sarah will suffer at least 1 seizure....sometimes more, especially when the change is extreme.
She takes a med that helps to "maintain" her seizures...meaning that it greatly reduces the number of, and her susceptibility to more, seizures.
We have tried sharing some pot with her...but, if anything, the smoke seems to reduce her medication's ability to keep more seizures away...and the two times she was given an edible, she TRULY enjoyed herself!...but, like her neurologist agreed with me about, I can not duplicate the amount...much less the strain of marijuana....or the process that was used...to avoid giving Sarah a "BAD" experience...and her not being able to tell us how she feels....well....That just wouldn't be very nice!
So...we stick with the prescription meds and ride out the seizures that get through....hoping there won't be more!

Does anybody know anybody with a seizure disorder?
Have you ever witnessed a person having a seizure?
Sarah is not the only person I have seen having a seizure...
Maybe I'll save that story for another time...as I feel that this post has already grown to be much larger than I had expected it to get....and I suspect I may be rambling at this point! Lol!

So...how is everybody?
I've seen seizure activity.

back in the day, when I was working security at London's biggest exhibition centre, one of our guards got fired while on the door at an after party for laughing at the way a guy was dancing. turns out his rhythmic writhing around on the floor was actually a seizure

its not a pretty sight to see, especially if you're not used to dealing with such things. seeing a fellow human being being betrayed by their own body/brain while you're all but helpless to help them with much more than making them comfortable within the environment around them is not something you soon forget. the girl I mentioned earlier was found by her eight year old son when she had her mini stroke, luckily she'd been teaching him how to deal with the situation so he knew exactly what to do. his prompt actions, calling the ambulance and knowing what to tell them etc, probably saved her life that day. even still, the image of seeing his mum like that will stay with him forever

It is sad that the poor boy has to witness something like that, but I am glad he knew what to do in that situation, especially at such a young age! He is a hero, and she must be proud of her son for being able to remain calm and inform the proper people about her condition and situation. She is also smart for teaching her child how to handle this type of situation.

Sarah's seizures are rarely violent...but sometimes she swings her arms around.
Sometimes I have to put socks on her hands because she scratches herself and grabs handfuls of her tiny breasts and pinches herself!
Usually she makes a gagging sound, then her body goes stiff....
If this starts while she is sitting in her wheelchair, it is near impossible for me to lift her and move her to her bed.
Once the stiffness lessens, she goes limp...but usually 1 arm will move in a repetitive motion and she turns her head from side to side.
If I am present when her seizures start, I can whisper her name into her ear and the stiffness part of the seizure will stop right away.
(Her doctors refuse to believe that my whispering into her ear has more than a coincidental effect....but, in my heart, I know that it makes her seizures stop!)
The biggest worry, for me, other than the possibility of her having a stroke, is that when she goes limp, sometimes her airway gets compromised and she hasn't gained the ability to reposition herself, yet, to be able to breathe easier.
...And, lately, she has been having seizures while laying on her stomach, in bed, and the seizures force her face into her pillow....muffling the sounds that alert me to her seizures...and nearly suffocating her!
I mentioned it to her neurologist...she didn't seem concerned.
I'm thinking about changing her neurologist...or, at least, getting a second opinion.
After Sarah lies quietly for about 20 minutes, one would never know she ever had a seizure...
She is alert and in control of her hands...
But, 5 minutes after we sit her up in her chair, she gets drowsy and falls asleep.
If we lay her down, she wakes back up!
It usually takes a full day...sometimes 2...for the sitting-sleepies to stop...so she spends a lot of time in bed.

The BF and I were at a 4x4 Truckfest one summer...
Everybody was standing up in the stands, cheering on the competitors...when the BF and I noticed this one very tall man wasn't cheering!...and he didn't sit down when everybody else did!
Then we watched him fall forward like a chopped down tree!...right onto his face!
By the time we could get to him, his body was shaking...but he recovered quite quickly...and with the help of some other people, he walked out of the stands.
Before he recovered, I had tried to roll him to make sure he could breathe...with little success...and people were yelling "Don't touch him!" Don't let him swallow his tongue! Put something in his mouth!!"
Having had witness Sarah's seizures, I knew NOT to put anything in his mouth...and that it is a myth that one can swallow one's tongue...
And I only wanted to touch him to assure he had an open airway!
I know that most seizure victims can hurt themselves and helpful others while violently shaking about...so, once I could hear him breathing, I just stood back until the symptoms stopped and the guy "woke up," looking quite confused.
He did not return to the stands...
I assume he was taken for medical care...or, if he was prone to seizures in the past, he may have just gone home to rest.

I guess I have been desensitized to seeing seizures from seeing Sarah's...for I kept my cool about it all!...while most folks freaked the F*** OUT!!...screaming and yelling and acting like that seizure was contagious!!

That was about 15 years ago...and I still wonder about that guy...
I hope he's okay these days!

Wow, it sounds like you definitely have a lot of experience with witnessing seizures and knowing how to handle them when many others don't. It's a good thing! So if it ever happens to someone, you will know what to do to help or save them.

Yeah...33 years of watching Sarah's seizures has reduced the "shock value" of the situation.
Also, I find that the calmer one is while attempting to help a seizure victim, the less chances there are of the seizure becoming worse...
Its like Sarah can sense the fear in someone and it will intensify the symptoms!

One time, when she was about 2 years old, her grandma was babysitting her, and Sarah started to have a mild seizure....
Her grandma, being a paraplegic, panicked, freaked out & called 911..& that was the only time that Sarah ever stopped breathing and needed repeated attempts to open her airway!
Calm has been the key to keeping her seizures relatively mild.

Anybody bored wirh seizure talk, yet?
I could probably go on for pages, given the time to do so! Lol!

Hey...so...I'm guessing that Amane is off being an Internet Nomads or something?
Menewsha has been Amane-free for a couple days, now....
I only wonder because in her last posts in this thread were about her friend who wanted to see her in a ditch!
Kinda odd timing for her to take a hiatus....
....and the place just isn't "right" when Amane is absent!
I hope all is well!

Amane is on several avatar sites, so I am assuming she is spending more time on others right now

also its Wednesday
its lucky you were there, Zane, what with your experience dealing with Sarah's seizures. judging be the crowd's comments and initial reaction, that guy could've ended up in alot worse off shape than he did. its amazing how dangerous a lack of knowledge can sometimes be (I actually posted more on this earlier but the phone goblin ate it all up. just imagine I said something really profound and insightful, then nod and smile in awe of my amazeballness )

Um...it wasn't Wednesday, where I live, till midnite & 1 second, TODAY! Lol!
That nasty phone goblin haunts you, too, huh?
I have no doubt that I would have enjoyed reading the post that wasn't!

Yeah...its hard to know what to do to help someone if you've never seen their symptoms before...and not all seizures look the same.

Some folks have "silent" seizures...where all they do is stare.
(Sarah had those when she was very young.)

The BF knew a guy who just kept getting into trouble...getting into fights and being violent, but not being able to remember the events...he went to a doc and was informed that he had a form of seizure disorder...that his seizures made him violent.
He was normally the nicest, most polite gentleman!
He spent a lot of time in jail...lost just about everything...before he was able to provide medical evidence that he had not WILLFULLY assaulted anyone.

We also knew this one old ex-druggie...
His seizures were pretty classic...drop to the ground & shake a while...
This one time this guy was working at a tire shop where the BF worked...and this guy started having a seizure while changing a tire on a car...
I guess the guy slammed himself in the head with a jack handle before falling flat on his face on the asphalt!
BF said it was really hard not to laugh...cuz it really looked funny!
But this guy was used to his seizure disorder and when he came to, he cleaned his face and went back to work like nothing ever happened!

Mainly, the only advice I can give, should one suddenly find themselves in the presence of someone having a seizure is to stay calm...make sure they can't hurt themselves by thrashing into furniture or dangerous situations...like stairs!...and CALMLY call 911.
They will ask questions and advise you on what to...and what NOT to do.
Keep your wits!
This person will most likely recover soon and return to the same condition they were before the seizure happened...
Its really not that scary, actually!
Well...it isn't to me, anyway...
Now,...watching someone look like they are having a heart attack...or a stroke...that's pretty scary!
It was even MORE scary when it was ME who was having the heart attack!
....seizures are "old hat" for me, anymore! Lol!

Thank you for the advice! I think you're right that in any situation, just try to remain calm so you can listen and receive instructions more effectively.

I only know Albatross from Judy Collin's song.
And that Albatross must be very different from the Albatross Amane speaks of.
