this is because America is the world's biggest monger of propaganda. I went to a propaganda expo at the British Museum, and when asked, everyone there thought that it was Germany who were the biggest propomongers, because of some of the tactics they used during the second world war. and the rest thought it was Russia, because, well, its Russia. but it turns out that the KGB were telling the truth. good old uncle sam pulls the wool over (even its own citizen's) eyes more that every other country combined. its the flip side of mass commercialism that does that. it may well be the land of the free, but only for those with the resources/motivation to seek it out. here, they teach us world history in junior school. who fought who, which country is where, and produces what. the capital cities of the world, that the peoples from India and related countries are to be considered Asian, and Chinese, Japanese etc, are to be considered Oriental. you know, the basics. of course, we've got an advantage in that regard. we used to own the world, while you're still trying to conquer it. at the same time, there's so little pressure to succeed here, because our welfare system pays out so well, that most kids don't pay any attention at school. so it all kind of balances itself out. hmmmn, I guess all governments are crap then, and there's no correct way to lead a world nation,

Huh. That's interesting, yeah every country has their problems. No country on earth is perfect, no matter how much we claim it is.
I know some people who swear England is the best country and that England should own the world again, then I know some people who think America is better than all countries and some people who think France is the best and Japan is the best.
All countries have good things about them and all countries have bad. No one is perfect. Sigh, silly people!
I do think that the education system in America is shit, though, I'll agree to that!
And I do think America has a terrible race problem. But it's like that everywhere. There's always going to be people that will hate you because you are different, there's no way around that.

that's so true. I mean, the racism thing is a combination of the 'them and us' strategy and political correctness gone wrong, and the American education system is no worse than in any other capitalist country (some of the world's smartest people are American) but because governments use social engineering to control the masses (you know, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time etc) there will always be some people left out of the loop. in theory, communism actually works, but in practice, it represses the will of the people. I mean, who wants to wear the same clothing as their neighbours, and why would a doctor be happy earning the same as a sanitation engineer. there's no progress in that. we need diversity, it helps nations to grow. its just the misunderstandings that come with it that cause all of the problems. there's an experiment, called blue eyes brown eyes, where the kids in a classroom were segregated by eye colour then treated differently because of it. the blue eyes being the more privileged group. its so interesting to see how tensions soon grew between the two groups. it was like watching society in the micro scale. I guess you just can't change human nature outside of a mental care facility

I've heard of that experiment before. It is interesting how that played out.
I don't know if they did this in the UK, but I've heard here in the USA,with black people they'd have to be lighter than a paper bag in order to get better privileges than the people darker than the paper bag. Colorism is still a huge thing in America because of this. Black people hating on other black people for being lighter. It's a sad reality.
I just wish that people could come together and realize we're all human.

while racism does exist in the Uk, slavery was not really that much of an issue here. Queen Victoria wouldn't allow it on home soil. there's a story of two slaves who stowed away on a ship from the colonies, Jamaica I think. Queen Victoria freed them and employed them as footmen on the royal coach. but because slavery wasn't a direct issue here, the racism in this country is a younger animal. it stems from the post war days when Britain opened its borders to the colonies (now the commonwealth) to fill the labour gap created by world war two's death count, among other things. the countries which were built on British slavery, Jamaica, Ghana, Barbados, Papa New Guinea ect, have since been handed over to the former slave's descendents. though under the protection of the crown. Northern Ireland and the Falkland islands, are among some of the only countries not handed over, and they had no slaves (lots of war and infighting though). the problem with the US doing the same, would mean for the former slavers to hand over the country's reigns to the former slaves. but seeing as everyone in America, with the exception of the Native Americans, are immigrants, that's never going to happen. too much was invested, from all sides, to make America great. this is why racism in America is so apologetic. because no restitution was made. and its a tricky situation, look at the situation in Israel/Palestine, where restitution enflamed an age old wound. I always find it weird that in the US its wrong for the majority to be racist against the minority, yet its seen as being Ok for the minority do the same to the majority. as I said, apologetic. all discrimination should be deemed as being wrong. anything less and you're just fueling the flames. only equality for all can quell a fire like that. in England, discrimination against sex, race, ethnicity, religion, faith, beliefs, sexual orientation, disability, gender assignment, and even age, is illegal. an employer can get into serious trouble for boycotting any of these groups during the interviewing process. it doesn't stop it from happening, but when the law is at your back, it makes the struggle just a little bit easier. a few years back, a gay couple caused the law to be redefined even further when they were refused lodgings because of their sexual orientation. and faith based adoption agencies are no longer allowed to refuse potential candidates solely because of sexual orientation. so prejudice is a thing that reaches further than the colour of one's skin, or how curly someone's hair is. prejudice lives everywhere, and only when all forms of discrimination are addresses, will anything positive ever be achieved

"and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. and the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place"

What's up, Mene? Why does it seem so slow today?
Or maybe I'm just moving faster than usual?

lol, it is a bit lethargic here today isn't it. so, what have you got planned for your last day in Cali?
that awkward moment, when the movie hero, is using the device you're watching, to save the day

wow, Cass, you must've pooped your grannypants. luckily there were no reported casualties, and the storm's apparently on the decline
I'm not so hot on air flight either, but they do say that, statistically, its the safest way to travel

I know right. and because aviophobia is often considered to be a symptom of combined phobias such as claustrophobia, acrophobia, or even agoraphobia, rather than a phobia in its own right, and different causes may bring it about in different individuals, its probably one of the hardest to overcome. I hope you manage to overcome your anxieties on your flight home. maybe a game of 'I wonder what he does for a living' may help to distract you. I often play it when waiting for a delayed train. it helps to pass the time

I did it! I made it back!
I was so scared I was going to have a panic attack because I was overly worrying about having one. But I did it! I didn't pee on the plane, though, too scary. I didn't eat or drink anything all day to avoid having to use the bathroom.
It wasn't awful. My last trip back home from California was terrible! So much turbulence I thought I was going to die!
