Lori took Jason to his movie laughing after at how freaked out she had been. Suddenly Jason froze and pulled her short with a frown she followed his gaze and paled at the sight of Scarecrow. "Well look like I found two people to try my fear gas on." He laughed as Jason pushed Lori behind him.

Bruce was bored to death busy at work when his beeper went off. Looking at it, he sighed and got up, making some excuse or another before he left and headed to the batcave. He got suited up and headed out, looking for Scarecrow.

Lori gripped Jason's arm eyeing Scarecrow as he circled them. "The girl first then?" Scarecrow smirked and reached for her then grunted as Jason twisted his arm. With one arm out of the way Jason punched Scarecrow eyes flashing with determination. Lori hoped Jason would be alright fighting alone. Scarecrow pulled away growling "fool." He kicked Jason in the stomach ,sending him cursing and clutching his stomach, to the ground. "Jason!" Lori gasped as the boy struggled to get back up. She turned to glare at Scarecrow but instead got a mouthful of gas which made her cough.

Batman spotted his target soon enough, assaulting two people near the movie theater. Upon closer inspection, he saw that the people were Lori and Jason, and Lori had just gotten hit with some kind of gas. Batman jumped out of the batmobile and raced over, throwing a batarang as he did in order to knock the gas out of Scarecrow's hand. "Stay away from them!" He commanded as he placed himself in between Scarecrow and the others.

Lori blinked then stumbled away as the fear gas kicked in. She stared at the monstrous bat and scarecrow in front of her whimpering a little. Jason straightened "Lori?" he frowned gaining his breath back. Scarecrow chuckled "I did what I wanted better get her fixed up before her mind collapses from the fear." he grinned and the raced off laughing. "Bruce something's wrong with Lori." he was holding her arm tightly as Lori started to have a panic attack. "Get off." she pulled away and fell as she tripped squeezing her eyes shut trying to get rid of the frightening images.

Batman swore. He wanted to go after Scarecrow, but Lori's safety came first. He swung around and knelt next to her. "Fear gas. She's experiencing very realistic hallucinations right now. Everything, including you and I, is being seen as something terrifying. You have to help me get her back to the cave." He said, already going to pick Lori up. "Try to make sure she doesn't kick too much."

As Bruce said that Lori got in a good punch to his jaw as she pressed herself against the wall whimpering. "Oh!" Jason grimaced at the punch. "I think kicking isn't the only thing." He smirked and helped get Lori into the car. "It's alright Lori we got you."

Batman rubbed his jaw. "Yeah...she's got a nasty punch." He said, trying again. This time, he held her arms down. They managed to get her into the car, and as soon as Jason was in as well he floored it, heading for the cave.

Lori was breathing hard soft groans escaping as they barreled down the street. She whimpered as her vision began to blur and her body shook. "Bruce." She called to him squeezing her eyes shut having no idea that her knight was there.

"I'm right here, love." Batman replied, though he knew she couldn't hear or understand him. They got to the cave in minutes, and he was out of the car almost before it stopped. "Okay, help me get her on the table." He told Jason as he started to get Lori out of the car.

Jason helped him then held Lori down knowing she would probably lash out when Bruce gave her the antidote.

Bruce got a vial out of the stash he kept handy and brought it over. With one swift, clean motion, he slid the needle into Lori's arm and pushed the plunger down. Once he was sure all of the antidote had been administered, he put the needle in a safe container and came back over to make sure Lori was okay. He pulled the mask off so that there was no mistaking who he was when Lori's head cleared.

Lori took a moment the groaned as her eyes opened. "Bruce?" she reached her hand out still looking freaked out. "What happened.?"

Bruce felt relief wash over him like ocean waves. "I'm here." He said, taking her hand. "You got blasted with fear gas. You'll be okay, though." He didn't even want to think about how close a call it had been.

"Oh lord." Lori grimaced then squeezed his hand. "I'm glad your saved me and Jason was a big help. You trained him well." Jason frowned at her not willing to admit that he was ashamed for not being able to protect her better. "Yeah perfectly trained." he grumbled.

"I know." Bruce said with a tiny smile. "Jason, you can't win every fight. What's important is that you fought back. You held him off long enough for me to get there. If you hadn't been there, Lori might have been left on the ground suffering until I found her. She may have died if you hadn't prevented Scarecrow from using the fear gas sooner. I understand you're frustrated, but you're still new to all this. In time, you'll get to the point where you can fight someone like that on your own. But for now, it's enough that you were there to help."

Jason blushed embarrassed by the praise. "Thanks. I'm just glad your alright Lori." He raced off to hide his embarrassment.

"He's so sweet." Lori went to stand up and regretted it at once. "Whoa." She laid back down. "Guess you'll have to carry me." She grinned.

Bruce smiled and gently picked Lori up. Carrying her bridal-style, he brought her up the stairs and set her down on the couch. "There. Do you want some water, or something to eat?" He asked.

"No I just want to cuddle." Lori gripped his arm as searching his for the answer to something.

Bruce nodded and sat down next to her, putting one arm around her shoulders. "I'm right here for you." He promised.

Lori smiled and curled up against him head resting against his shoulder after a few moments she fell asleep there.

About five years passed, mostly without incident, and Rosemary grew quickly. It was now her first day of school, and with a little sting-pulling Gemini had managed to get the child into the same private school that Jason went to. Rosemary was currently waiting at the door of their apartment for her favorite person (Jason) to show up and take her to school. "Do you have your pencil case?" Gemini asked for perhaps the tenth time. "I got it, Mommy." Rosemary said patiently. She was used to her mother's fussing by then, and tended to be very go-with-the-flow about it.

After five years and plenty of fights, Bruce had decided that Jason was ready to do patrols on his own. Which was why they were both out so late, and thus late waking up that morning. By the time Bruce got up, Jason was already off to school. He went downstairs to see Lori, who was up before him as always. Even with Gemini's suspicion, they had managed to keep her from finding out about him, though it continued to be a subject of tension between the three. "Good morning, love." Bruce said to Lori. "Are you ready for the special lunch I have planned today?" He had everything planned out to the last detail, and he was excited about it.

Lori had come over early that day for there special lunch dressed nice but also casually. "Of course I am love." she smiled even after five years she hadn't taken the offer to move in with him finding it strange though part of her wanted to she would wait till they where married. She also hadn't gone to the next step with him despite the many close calls.

Jason knocked on Gemini's apartment sighing softly annoyed. He still couldn't believe he had let the adults talk him into going to school. Of course he had half did it to peace he was face with one of the cutest faces in the world. "Come one Rose we'll be late."
