lol,I have a friend who literally 'freezes' on the spot whenever he sees a spider. there's no budging him until its gone either, he just stands there fixed in a statuesque pose

I once had a silverfish in my bedroom on the ceiling and I was just about to walk into my room after showering to get dressed. My cat was on my bed and she was watching it. Did NOTHING when it started walking and FELL off the ceiling and onto the floor somewhere.

All while this is going on- I'm standing there with a towel around me, texting my now fiancé to come over asap (we were heading out to a family gathering that day) and kill this thing for me. I remember texting him a message when it fell, "IT FELL OFF THE FUCKING CEILING, I WILL NOT GO IN THERE!! EMI IS JUST SITTING THERE" and then I screamed about it, and then yelled at my cat telling her to hand in her cat card, she failed as a cat/huntress.
He did come over as quickly as he could and found it and killed it.

lol, fact really is scarier than fiction, eh Toni: its been identified as a Giant Huntmams Spider, and apparently this beastie can grow to the size of a dinner plate (and that's just one of its multitude of feaky superpowers) but backread the full thread for a more in depth discussion. additionally, this infomational video on the subject was linked earlier by shinigamikarasu. but I warn you, once watched, it can never be unwatched again, so its advisable to gird your britches before you click

lol, all aboard the nope train
Hmmm. I think most of the spiders in the video are really pretty, but that's coming from someone who is a fan of spiders. One thing I will admit though is that it is scary how fast something that size can move! I would never be brave enough to try to capture one myself to let it outside like I do with smaller spiders. I jumped about a foot at the clip at the end of the video where the person is slowly bringing the bucket up to the ceiling and the spider just jumps down on them. Like, I know they are only doing that because you're too close to them and they feel threatened. I understand. I just also really don't want giant spiders jumping on me or skittering around my house all freaked out. x_x

OMG I can't imagine what I'd do if I encountered that in my house. XD It would definitely scare me, though.

lol, my cat's exactly the same with certain things. flies, spiders, birds, moths, mice, and my feet? she will stalk and eat them like a true urban predator (not my feet, her mouth's not that big, and she's never been a lover of cheese). but pit her up against a humble woodlouse strolling across the garden path, and she just looks at me like "...say what now?!" I think its got something to do with the way they walk, creepy crawlies like that are not erratic enough in their movements to trigger the instinctual hunter in them. but luckily for you that you had a spare pet with a shoe

My cat's awful at catching bugs too. He's so picky about how you play with him - if the toys don't move in a pattern he likes (quickly, back and forth in front of him, or going behind him), he just won't chase them. So he watches bugs, expecting them to cater to his wishes. When they just crawl off, he gets very confused and just waits for them to come back. The only bug I've ever seen him actually interact with are mosquito hawks. He does like chasing those. But beetles or spiders crawling across the floor? Nah.

Geezy! Looks like something from a B horror movie. What I need is a fifty-foot can of something really bad for the environment.
