Hi everyone, it's been awhile since I have logged on here. Lots going on...life in general. Hope everyone is well.
Spoiler warning for anyone who hasn't played.
Now the topic at hand, Dragon Quest VIII, does everyone remember it for the Playstation Two? It was a gem and very well done for its time back in 2005. Ever since I played that game, it left a really big impact on me as the story was well written with many memorable moments in the game. Now SE Japan has announced a port remake of this game with extra content and it has me absolutely psyched.
The game is about a kingdom called Trodain that possessed a cursed relic locked away for many centuries, until a magician/jester heard about it and stole the scepter. He immediately gained the immense power and cursed the entire kingdom turning all the subjects into thorny plant people as if they were frozen in time while the King was transformed into a mini troll like creature. The Princess was turned in to a horse. Only one person in the kingdom did not transform. A lowly sentry boy who is the Hero of the game.
The new content includes:
- 2 more scenarios exploring the Hero's past and Dhoulmagus(villain) past
- 2 more playable characters which weren't in the previous version (Red & Morrie)
- More items and weapons available
- New monsters
- New dialogue and storyline which goes along with having these characters able to join.
- New Musical scores
There is a lot, but I do hope there are new outfits for the characters to wear, other playable characters and extra dungeons along with extra post game content.
Overall I will say this game was a 10/10 for me and any JRPG person would love this game as it is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and the musical scores are absolutely stunning with great talented voicing for the characters.
If anyone would like to see my Dragon Quest VIII art and my own modification concept art I would like to see in the game look me up on Deviantart.com as BardofMaple
