Logan snarled as he sprang forward just as Sabine dropped out of the goon's grip. His claws slid through the goon with no resistance, and he pulled them out again just as quickly, whirling around to see if anyone else wanted to make a stupid decision.

Everyone else had either cleared out already, or they were incapable of moving. Sabine let out a shaky sigh but didn't move to get back up just yet.

Logan ignored everything else, going straight over to Sabine and tugging her to her feet.

"You alright?" he asked, looking her over. "Did they hurt you?"

"Not permanently," Sabine told him after a moment. She was shaking, just a little. "I'll be okay." That she already knew from experience.

"C'mon," Logan said, sheathing his claws and picking her up easily. "Takin' you back to the mansion. Car's waiting."

For a moment Sabine's concentration slipped, when he touched her, letting him hear the near-panicked mental rambling that went basically like Oh shit back to the mansion safe is it safe oh shit. She winced and huddled in on herself a bit.

"Sorry," she mumbled.

"It's fine," Logan said quietly. He just held her until it was a little better. "C'mon. Goin' home."

Sabine nodded letting him steer her around. She was focused on trying to make herself as small as possible and keeping herself separated from the minds around her.

Logan just carried her out to the car. The only thing on his mind was getting her back to the mansion, where it was safe.

The trip back to the mansion was quiet and tense. Ororo could tell something had happened, but not what, so she kept quiet. Sabine kept huddled in on herself, staying as quiet as possible, physically and mentally.

As soon as they got back to the mansion, Logan carried Sabine inside. Nobody immediately tried to swarm them, which was good, so he was able to take her directly to the medical wing.

Jean looked at Sabine and grimaced in sympathy. "Alright, easy does it," she murmured to Sabine. "Take a few deep breaths, alright? We'll get you all straightened out."

Sabine did as instructed, but somehow she'd managed to latch on to Logan to use as something of an anchor.

Logan stayed there with her as Jean looked her over. He was still seething mad, but there was nothing he could (or would) do about it until Sabine was okay.

"Done," Jean said about thirty minutes later. "I'll be able to analyze these soon, but for now I want you to go see the Professor, he'll be able to help you get some rest, alright? Try not to worry too much. We'll deal with whatever happened." She smiled a bit.

Sabine nodded, having settled into a numb state, and slid back to her feet carefully.

Logan just wordlessly held out a hand to her, offering support. With any luck, Charles would be able to help and Sabine would be able to finally rest.

Sabine held on to his hand tightly, perhaps moreso than she should have been able to. She kept quiet as they left the infirmary and headed to the Professor's office instead.

"It's okay now," Logan said quietly once they were in the hall. "You're safe now. Nothing can get through to get you in here."

"Yeah," Sabine muttered, sounding less than convinced. "Hopefully." She shuffled along next to him, still adjusting to how many people she could 'hear' in the mansion.

Logan just took her to a quiet, dark room. It was obviously a room that hadn't been used in a while, but it was furnished and clean and away from the bulk of the occupied rooms.

"You can settle in here," he said. "I'll go get the Professor."

Sabine nodded and settled in cautiously. Once Logan left, though, she got up and started pacing, trying to figure out how to make everything stop.

A short while later, there was a knock on the door.

"Sabine?" Charles's voice came from the hallway. "May I come in?"

"Yes, of course." Sabine walked over to open the door for him, relaxing a little when she saw him. He dealt with this and didn't go insane, so she (probably) could too.

Charles went into the room, though he gave Sabine time to get used to him being there. He carefully closed himself off from her when he felt her mind reaching towards his.

"How are you feeling?" he asked gently.

"Overwhelmed," Sabine admitted. "I mean, better now that I'm here and it's quieter, but still." She shrugged a bit, perching on the edge of the bed.

Charles nodded.

"Understandable," he said, still gentle with her. "It can be very overwhelming, at first. But I can help you control it, if that's what you want."
