Extreme Weight Loss is a 1-year journey in which the person chosen for that episode is taught new workout techniques and proper nutrition to lose weight and become healthier. They have 3-month challenges. If the person loses half of their original body weight by the 9-month mark, they're given the skin removal surgery.

My 600-Pound Life follows people who are around 600 pounds. It's one person per episode being followed for a year as well. But this show is about people getting gastric bypass.

Honestly, between the two shows, Extreme Weight Loss definitely has more positive results. The people are really working for the weight loss. On the other show, they're given the surgery and act like it's supposed to be magic. A lot of them don't want to change their habits, so a lot of them don't have drastic results like the other show.

Oh, I see. I don't know, it seems like a bit of an odd premise for a television show, but I guess as long as its being positive and educational.
